Are you going to reconnect the center crossmember from side to side? It NEEDS to be strong since the rear control arms will be yanking on them fulltime.
I will either be running this or something really similar. I just rough cut the factory trailing arm cross member so my truck would lay flat...
Thats a nice piece, to bad they didnt install tabs for trailing arm connections it would be absolutely perfect and simple....I suppose it leaves you some figuring to do or it would just be to simple!
Here is another version, probably what I will run if I don't fab up or modify the factory one. The previous one I found on a quick search. I think it is built for carrier bearing only with trucks with 4 outside the frame rails.
Thanks Malibob!. Hopefully I can find a truck as clean as yours one of these days. Your truck is freakin awesome bro
I just got off the phone with Porterbuilt and ordered my tubular trailing arm crossmember (with carrier bearing mount). Bad thing is a 4 week wait.
It's worth the wait, Porterbuilt makes some great parts. I'm really liking this build, keep up the good work!! It's gonna be a bad ass truck when its done.
Yeah really stoked!... Still working on my frame. Doing a little grinding and misc details. Its mostly all bare metal as of now. Planning on doing mock up then repainting the frame and possibly Powdercoating some parts
You would have like to have that done and to have been here with it in SoCal last sunday at Brothers Chevy Truck Show....what a great event, as long as you dont mind looking at hundreds of different styles of Chevy trucks from 47-87!!!
Worked on stripping te frame a bit more today. Mocked up my trailing arm xmember and gutted the rear brake assembly. Need to order new cylinders and then put on the new guts in it.
Thanks bro!...I like that yours is a BBW... Mine needs rockers replaced(have the replacements in boxes) and some minor cancer on back and a couple of holes back side of cab.
