My 727 ****** is making a buzzing sound like its got low fluid in reverse when cold " I checked the trans fluid level when it gets hot its fine, its just started doing this after a long time no use plus its a little slow to repsonde to drive as well when cold , its a old 70s model trans ****oned up to a 360 , Maybe a trans service + new oil and pickup filter maybe the fix" would apreciate any feed back on 727s , Grunt
The buzzing is probably the pressure regulator sticking from lack of use. If it really bothers you, take the valve body out and clean it up really good. Maybe put a shift kit in while you're in there. Otherwise, just turn the radio up. The slow response probably means it needs new seals. The only real fix to that is a rebuild, but letting it warm up and taking it easy once it is warm could keep you going for a long time. http://maxwedge.com/articles/transmission-diagnosis.php
Pretty typical 727/904 complaint... If you run it in neutral for a minute or two (longer in cold weather) before dropping it into gear it should help with cold engagement issues until you can rebuild it. A service and some Trans-X may be a temporary fix if it's just clutch piston rubber seal issues...
Change the fluid and filter let it warm a bit in neutral it will last a while before you need to fix it.
