Other than the ride a breaking down every 20 minutes or so I once we got to ride it, it rides smooth and it was nice because of the scenery is wonderful and the storyline captures the essence of the ride. It was nice because there is a dark portion of a ride as well as they have an exterior portion of the ride which nicely blends the land and a ride inside flawlessly. Animatronics that are in the inside of the ride are very nice and there are 2 types. The first type is using a mechanical moving mouth to make the character speak. The secondary type is a projection of the characters mouth which makes the illusion that the character is speaking.

Most new rides break down. I was there three days and by the second day it had seemed to have been fixed and no breakdowns to be seen. The only ride that was breaking down was radiator springs racers (aka RSR

The detail of both the land, ride interiors, and cue lines was top notch. We rode RSR three times and all three were great.. i only had one issue... i wish the race sequence was longer. But it is still a great ride.

I have tons of pics and videos. I will post when i have a few minutes to upload them.. but here is a sneak peak at a fre details..

anyone remember the movie "The Rocketeer"? well here is the the leather jacket and pants that he wore in the movie. I believe that this is the real deal.. but it has not been confirmed. It is on display in the Elias and Co store on Buena Vista street.

The ride is very awesome. But it does not go that fast, maybe 65-70 mpg at its top speed. maybe even lower than that. but the turns are banked hard and for that it does give you a planted feeling. and at times you can hear the tires squeal, but I am not sure if that is a sound effect or if it is really coming from the car its self.

I went down last Sunday afternoon around 2. It was so packed that the parking structure was full, the main lot was full and so was the Downtown Disney lot. They wanted me to park past the Convention Center. I only live 25 minutes away so I just went home. I always have annual passes and I know that when it is that full it is not even enjoyable. I will try again sometime this week. :(

This is a car (not sure if the body is a real car but the chassis was new looking)

They use the car to drop off and pick up the band " 5 and dime" a swing/jazz band. I seen these and just had to take a picture.. so are these tires also considered mickey t's? Lol

    Here is the vehicle:

    "Doc's House Call"
    by Chip Foose 2011

    Ole_Red -

From what I was told, prints aren't available on-line ... at least not yet.

We just returned from a family vacation to Disneyland / Disney's California Adventure where I purchased the "Doc's House Call" deluxe matted print in the "Ramone's House of Body Art" souvenir shop for $39.95 + tax.

All four of Chip's original paintings were hanging in Disney's California Adventure "Off The Page" shop ... and were available for purchase ($10,000.00 - $12,000.00):

Limited-edition (numbered) canvas giclées of Chip's four paintings were also available for purchase at both the "Ramone's House of Body Art" and the "Off The Page" shops for $325.00.

Bummer. We were hoping to put one up in the boy's room. He is due out any day now... name: "Hudson." How big is the deluxe print? Maybe I will give a call down there to see what I can find out ordering-wise.

  16. if you cant order over the phone, i'm pretty sure they will ship your counter purchases from the park.

i'm at the park at least a couple of times a month. i could facilitate.

    give 'em a call.

I showed in an earlier post that I had been working at Carsland in Disneyland, but I didn't share everything. I've known Chip since '93 and was honored when I got the call to help with the project! On my first day to stripe, I showed up with my old trusty and a bit beat up paint box that I'd owned for close to 30 yrs. [IMG] I was kind of embarrassed being I knew the other 2 stripers (Dennis and Jeff) would show up with way newer setups and here I was with old faithful! I wasn't there an hour and the comments started, but quite the opposite from what I expected. The Imagineering people were going nuts and EVERYONE was taking pictures of the dumb thing! When John Lassiter (who directed Cars, Toy Story and others) told me he had to have it in the Racers ride, I knew it was over. I knew they wanted to buy it, but the biggest thing was now it's in the coolest museum ever!! I made some Ramone paint cans and added my crown (King, baby!) for Ramones name to go over and they grabbed a bunch of leftover paint cups from the store stuff to finish off the display. [IMG] When you come out of the paint booth (I did a bunch of striping in there) it's sitting on the floor just to the right of the car ride. Pretty much made my year! So now I just say my OTHER paint box is Disneyland!!!

We went Sunday 24th-Tue. 26th. Arrived about 10:00 AM sunday and decided to check on Ca adventure prior to hitting Disneyland. The ride time info booth already had R. springs racers wait time at 4+ hours with the fast Pass already closed down for the day! I could only imagine parents standing in that line because their 6 year old was only there for Carsland and you could not possibly disappoint them!

We had early entry passes (7:00 AM) for D.land monday. Hit the Matterhorn 1st, but it was under repairs (rode it later, but it seemed to go much slower with the new "big people" sleds. Did get in space Mtn. and a few others, but not very much was open at 7;00. Closed was Autopia as well as all of Adventureland and Frontierland (indiana Jones, Big Thunder, etc.).

We hit Ca Adventure gates at 6:15 and were the first in line for the 7:00 early opening Tuesday. By 7:00 there were hundreds waiting for the gate opening. We hit RS Racers and ended up riding on about the 6th car of the morning. I told the family, lets get back in line after we ride, then we'll fastpass it for later.
When we finished the ride, the wait time was already 90 minutes (!), with a line of folks lined up halfway down the main drag. We opted to hit the fast pass line by 7:30 (for an 8:00 opening. About 100 people ahead of us, but we got our fast passes-plus 3 "surprise fast passes" that were spit out for Calif. Screamin! When we left the fast pass line, the 8:00 general crowd was in the park and waiting in the R Springs fast pass line which extended all the way through town, ending at the theatre down near the tower of terror hotel! I couldn't believe it.

Carsland is absolutely incredible. I felt like I walked into the movie. The kids got a kick out of the 1/1 scale car of Deejay who drove out into the street and starting jammin tunes for a group of dancers.

Doug; thanks for the tip. we stayed at the Anaheim Plaza and thought it was really decent for the money (about $125 when all the others across the street were $150+. The only dig was that they wanted $10 a day for wifi (passwords) so I passed on that. We've stayed at most of the places nearby over the years and found this to be one of the better values.

This Mrs. kids and I live at D'land and even more since they opened cars land. I picked up one of the very few "Doc's House Call" on canvas. There were only 95 produced which blew me away at the price of ~280. Disneyland was out of the canvas a few weeks ago but the outside Disney store had 2 left (-1 which became mine. =) It's one of the best buy's I've ever made.

    Hot rods,

No problem. I am glad you enjoyed staying at the plaza. For me I don't use the wireless as i am usually at the park from opening to closing and when i get to the room i am too tired to go on the internet. So that doesn't bother me The hotel is a little bit dated.. like 1980's dated but overall is not bad and is worth it for the rate, location to the park, and cleanliness of the rooms. The staff is very nice and will do anything to make sure you enjoy your stay. When i went last month, there was a family from a European country (not sure which) that had taken up one whole wing of rooms. We happen to be in the last room of that wing. They were obnoxiously loud and the kids were running up and down the halls, kicking the ice and coke machines and pulling plants out of their pots. Well i called the front desk to make them aware that they were doing all of that. Well they stopped for as long as the staff member was in the hall way. Shortly after he left it came back with the running, yelling, etc. So i called again. They told them that if they heard another complaint that they would evict the whole party (over 40 people). The staff also asked if we wanted to move into another room. So we did. But the room he moved us into didn't have a bathtub it had an open shower, which for most would be ok.. but i have knee problems and after the abuse it gets from walking around i like to soak it in hot water.. so i called again and they were happy to give us another room. No problems, now smirks, nothing. With a smile they just gave us new keys and even called later to check and see if everything was up to our standards. I have stayed there over 15 times within the last 6 years and i strongly encourage people to stay there. If you are planning your trip feel free to pm me or email me and i can help you get their best rate.. i have AAA and the rate i get is still cheaper than AAA. Feel free to ask for help with anything regarding your Disneyland vacation.

Thanks to all who have been emailing me asking for help as well as those thanking me for my tips. I enjoy spreading the knowledge that i have acquired over the years... it makes me feel good to help others maximise their fun by saving a few bux that can be used to make their trip that much more magical.

Thank you to all who have sent me emails saying thanks for helping you. No problem. It was my pleasure. If you need anything in the future feel free to let me know.

  27. When I asked my product manager at Disney if the car club plaques were available online I got this reply:

If I remember correctly, they have a six month exclusivity through the park only but I think they can order through Disneyland’s merchandise guest service department:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
Disneyland Merchandise Guest Services Operating Hours: 8:00 - 17:00
    Phone: 877-560-6477
    <o:p></o:p>

The same may apply for the artworks, give it a try, hey - it's a free call and the worst you can get is a (polite) no.

WE WERE THERE FOR OPENING DAY!

We travelled from Australia the week before, for 11 days in Anaheim, with out 6 year old grandaughter. The day the Adventure Park opened we hit Disneyland itself, the queues to get into the Adventure Park were horrendous, and we just walked onto any ride in Disneyland we wanted to!

We went to the Adventure park on the Monday I think, and got on the Mater ride withoyt any problems, but the other rides were hours waiting, so we did other stuff instead. I posted some pics on here from the Mater ride, lots of old car bits and pieces, A grille shell etc, in the displays.

Here's a tip for anyone travelling to Anaheim, we stayed at the 'Super 8 Motel on Katella Ave' It is quite literally 10 minutes level walk to the Disneyland front gate, it cost uis about $90 a night for a 2-queen bed room, including breakfast (cereal and toast) and free wifi. The room was spotless, the beds comfy, the staff excellent, and the price unbeatable. The only 'down' was the hot water was body temperature. Not cold, not hot, it was summertime so it wasn't an issue for us having a lukewarm shower, but it may put some people off.

    Cheers, Glen.
