ok,since the hood latch is connected to the top header bar,how do you replace it.
1.do you leave the top header bar in?
2.can you cut out the centerbar and replace with something to support everything?
i want to put in a 58 corvette center bar because i have 58 corvette tailights installed.
I have done lots of stuff but this grill thing is kicking my but..help!!

This, my friend, is not a nut and bolt proposition. The entire hood release mechanisim will need to be relocated, the grill opening reshaped, and to really look correct the splash apron and front bumper will also need metal work.
Sheet metal skills, welding, fabricating, etc. This is known as customising.

  5. Here's an obvious answer to your question and all like it concerning other cars. If you have a Stock Grille or an opening to be filled and you can't do any better than the Designers did in the beginning....Leave it alone. There is no need to come in second best with the intention of improving a design. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should...Remember the old adage that carries with it a great deal of wisdom....Oftentimes, "Less is More"........Centurion9

  6. The hood latch plate and center brace can be seperated from the grille. Form some bar stock to take the place of the upper grille bar and you should be in business to do most anything you want with the cavity. The grille itself is riveted together but a drill will make short work of that.

This is a rod and custom board, not a "leave it stock" board, that would be www.aaca.org -

  7. If that post was directed at me, you'd have to remove many of the best cars posted including a whole lot of Watson and other Paint Job Customs....It's very possible to have a Custom Car on the HAMB without customizing every aspect of it.

    I like your idea....
can't really be of much help with the fabrication unless I saw it in person,
but I think its gonna look great when you're done!!!

What I started to do on my old Chevy was move the parking lights, and fab a curved piece that continued the ends and ended at that splash apron. It kind of made a nice grill shell, ill have to post as pic later but that's one idea. It leaves the hood latch in the stock location
