46' Dodge Pickup..new girl in town

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 46dodgegirl, Jul 4, 2012.

  1. Hey Peeps,
Im new and yes posted in the wrong forums at first...sorry.
I just bought a extremely clean 46 dodge truck and am the 2nd owner.
There was a terrific story behind this truck from the grandson and they cried as we drove away with it. Anyways, it was $800. new right off the showroom floor, times sure have changed! Updated 318 motor out of a police car.
I plan on driving it and thats it for now, just change a few things out, door handles, steering, muffler, shocks.
I am super busy in the summer , I haul aggregate products locally and work the summer, so Ill have plenty of time this winter. any info regarding your experiences with this year truck will be greatly appreciated. I hear parts are hard to come by...? tata for now ;)

  7. Whatever you do, keep the fenders and don't try to make a "bobber" out of it; don't ask how I know!

  13. Welcome, very cool truck so don't forget to post up as many pics as poss, we don't see too many Dodge and Plymouth trucks in the UK!

Like Jalopy Joker said, Roberts motor parts, theres very little you'll need they can't supply.

Welcome from Michigan. Glad to see more Early Mopar on here. I think the 40's Dodge trucks are the best looking.

  15. Thanks to everyone for your help and direction to parts, I wash and compounded on the paint a lil today but in time I guess itll need painted. I changed out the air filter and the fan belt today also, thats all Im going to tackle in the motor, easy girly stuff ya know.. :) as time goes on Ill add more pics to my albums, his first vintage style wedding will be in August, that should be fun.
I am going to send out flyers to wedding photographers to see if they are interested in using him as a prop. Just a thought for you ...these trucks are hard to come by and are being used for weddings, engagements, senior pictures. Hey why not make a lil gas or chrome money?!! Off to search for parts tata for now, j
