Hey guys I have a stupid question for ya-Besides a 53, what other year front bumpers will fit?? I am not looking to go custom, and the rear is 53-54. I have been looking for a while and haven't found any great answers. If I had to guess it would be 52-53 but then again back then the big 3 would retool evey year....so any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Sorry but I forgot to mention that the car is a 53 belair, 2 door coupe with the original paint and patina!!! Just looking for better bumpers, not brand new and wanna make sure I am hunting for the right ones.
53 bumpers are different from 54 chevs. different valance. a similar front bumper would be a 54 plymouth. i only know because i swapped mine for a 54 chevy bumper to match the shape of the rear. outer brackets needed modified, but centers were close to a bolt up. any bumper swap other than stock will need some kind of mods. so if you like a certin bumper, make it work....
I am not lloking to customize the car-well not the bumpers anyhow...I guess I might not have been clear enough. I was wondering if Chevy used bumpers for 2 years in this period-the rear i know is the same between the 53-54, but not too sure about the front bumper. I know the 54 front is completely different, but not sure about a 52...any help out there??
49-52 are all about the same, and you have one in your avatar picture, so that should answer your question.
I believe the dodge desoto bumper from 52/53 is a bolt on. I certainly have seen them on the chevies before and they look really good
53-54 chevy bumpers are not the same, and the 52 like your avitar is different to. so no. but if you make your own bumper brackets any bumper can fit for the most part.
bumpers from other 53 gm products are probably your best bet i have a pair of 53 chevy bumpers but they need rechromed
