Hi guys and girls, I'm Nick from down in Tasmania off the bottom of Australia, you know where the devil comes from I haven't got an older car yet but just biding my time till i find something. Mum and dad both have 1958 FC holdens (a couple of streeters and 1 other racecar) which i help out on the maintenance on. I've followed the forum for few years now with build ups as i love seeing how people from all over the world build and design modified cars of all types. I finally signed up as i'm about to embark on building up an old school tow truck for dads cars and my nissan drifters (don't worry i won't bring them up too often) and wanted to use some info off the forum here for inspiration. Cheers and see ya round!! Nick
Welcome to the Hamb from the Great State of Maine....think extreme northeast corner of US, right under Canada and hugging the Atlantic Ocean. To be blissfully ignorant I didn't know there was really a place called Tasmania!.....I thought it came from the cartoons, dumb American!
Welcome from the coast of S C. One of the states on the east side of the USA. If you can post some pictures of some down under rides would like to see if you guys have some thing different to build. Is their a car brand the it made their that we don't have here.
Thanks for the welcome guys, yep rustednutz im under down under! Sumfuncomet, yeh we do exist but to tell the truth the devils don't really spin around and demolish everything in their path either though that would be cool. I'll get a few photo's up of the parents cars and some other locals soon, we have the same as the Australian field of cars so the usual fords and holdens but will try and find some pics of some of the obscure ones
Welcome aboard from the north island Nick, Were in tassi are you from, Ive got relos in Launceston The joy of tasmanians joining is when you do a head count they automatically increase the numbers
Cheers Graham, I'm down at Forcett, on the way down to Port Arthur, about thirty minutes from Hobart. Haha! doubling numbers you reckon
finally got a couple of pics together of the Parents cars, All three are FC Holdens, The race car runs a 138 ci "grey" motor triple SU's, big race ports and cams modified 3 on column g/box and LSD and when he gets the chance runs it in regularity events HIS FC also runs the 138 but not as hot, triple SU's aswell and pretty much apart from a mild lowering and the wheels is stock HER FC runs the 186 ci out of a HR holden along with a 5 speed conversion from a toyota celica and bucket seats from a later model commodore (its strayed a little from stock when they picked it up so they have tried to bring it back a little bit, it was built originally by the last owner about 10 years ago i think it was)
A little update, I finally found a truck, well bargain price 2 for 1 offer 2 TJ series (not totally sure of build dates) bedford trucks, hopefully we can pick them up in 3 weeks i've got a charity rides day this weekend coming and then off to sydney for a motorsports event the weekend after, so after that i can start the planning. long term plans if all approved for modification is and extended chassis with tilt tray and later model brake sand engine and maybe a dual cab conversion. not 100% on this but it would make traveling with the family a bit easier First pic, truck in foreground runs a 214ci strait six and the truck at the rear runs a 300ci both are similar to the early model holden grey motor
