My Dads Willys Jeep has the same gas gage but the tip is broken off so it looks older :)

  5. The last four cylinder Pierce was built in 1909. I doubt anyone used Pierce distributors back then. There were a number of aftermarket conversions available, including one by American Bosch, which was very popular. This car looks to have a 009 Bosch VW distributor, a very common, modern swap for Ts

Does the owner drive it much? Ever get a ride?

Pretty cool... I think it needs at least a couple stars! Gary

Thanks for the interesting thread. Makes us old farts remember what fun old cars were when they were simple and life was too!

  17. I'll try to get the background on the ride. I fell in love with it instantly. Have not gotten a ride, yet. If the guy didn't live an hour and a half away, I would spend more time there.

They don't have a "Dizzy" they have a timer. 4 wooden coil boxes, each firing one spark plug. A timer on the front of the engine fires each one separately.

An old friend built a Model T hot rod in the early twenties. He adapted a Bosch magneto off a 1913 Cadillac 4 cylinder. He bolted the mag to the frame and drove it off the crankshaft with a bicycle chain. With a Rayfield carburetor, 1908 high compression head and the cutout open, it would do 70 MPH.
