I am considering running either an early Edelbrock or an early Weiand high-rise intake on my flathead, does anyone have any experience with them? Are they good runners? I have a Thickstun but a prefer the look of the Edelbrock/ Weiand. Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Chris

The Weiand in the 32 I built runs fine, but the gas mileage ****s. I've had a carb expert tell me the p***ages are too long and angular, so the fuel de-atomizes by the time it hits the cylinder.

    But it sure looks cool!

    Thanks guys.

Alchemy, do you think the fuel problem you described is particular to the Weiand or do you believe this would be the case with all high rise intakes?

    Thanks

Both work better for race application. Higher RPM's. I have run both of the early Edelbrocks, and the Weiand and only have some issues when it is hot outside and the fuel heats up. They like to load up in traffic. I also think this was because of the size of the motor and 400Jr cam. Just my input.

I think it would be similar for all the early hirises. They all have a similar shape (except for the very early Thickstun which is even worse). Next time I have the intake off I'm gonna take a long-shafted burr and try to smooth the transitions inside the Weiand.

I got this for about $700. This is a 1940's Edelbrock Regular, tall... Its going on my 286, 59A. I still like the Slingshot, but they are too damn expensive and I can't find one!
