I was out driving around in the hills today and stumbled across this little gem.

Owner says he drove it in there and that's where it's remained for the last 20-30 years.

He said he was looking to start selling some cars off the property, so I inquired about the Merc, he said make me a offer as he didn't have a solid price. My question is I have no idea what to even offer, what do Mercs in this condition go for?

Really hoping to acquire this beauty.

Also had these plus a early 50s Buick Wagon. Lots of my pictures didn't turn out.

  10. Looks like a 38 Buick 4 Door, 49 Nash, 56 Merc and maybe 55 Ford Wagon in the background?

  11. I've seen them in similar shape bring $5000. Depends on how the floors and stuff are.

Start at a grand, he may laugh but then you have a starting point and it may make him come back with what he feels is reasonable. Never hurts to start low, and since he left it up to you to start the negotiations, he really can't be offended. Believe me, he has a price in his head, he just wanted to see if you would offer him more than that.

  14. That merc looks solid, as already said offer him $1000 and see what he says, he can only say no and if he says yes then its your lucky day. Good luck.

Ask him "what's it gonna take to buy that $2000 car?" Starting out this way usually works in my favor.

I think that would be a good place to start, too. It depends on a lotta stuff, especially, is there a good title? Floors? How bad do you want it?

Pay me $400.00 and I'll get em all out of there for ya.
Then the alarm goes off and its time to go to work.
I like the " How much will it take to get that $2000 car routine".
    Central Valley where?

  25. I agree with the "551 BUX" conversation starter. Hell...you never know....he may take it....

  26. If he says know you can come back with well what do you think you would like for it? it opens dialog.

  27. Looks like another Mercury in need of rescue!

Check the floor and frame first. If it has been sitting on the dirt for years it is probably rotted out. In that case, parts car book value $1200. If the body is solid and the car is complete, restorable $3600 book value.

  29. Even if it's rotted it don't mean much because guys drop these on 80s Olds or Buick chassis still. What I can see of it looks like it would clean up super nice with some elbow grease.
