Hotrod or HAMB related must do's in Maine?

Hey guys, I'm gonna be in Maine during the third week in August.

I'm just wondering if there's anything cool happening in the state during that week?

Any must see hotrod shops? cruise nights? shows? swap meets? etc.

I don't get any real opportunities to dive into the traditional car scene around my neck of the woods.

i don't know of any shows, but i can recommend the Owls head museum.

 

Maine is a big state. What part are you going to be in???????????//

Owls head for sure, what George said up above and winter port drag way Gassah Guys weekends, al real blast and lots of old cars racing the 1/8 mile. The Gardiner meet at Ainsley's is the best. Backbay Customs in Portland does some awesome work, you can check out their website. Don't forget to get a Lobster roll at Sarah's in Wiscasset or the lobster salad at Marriners in Camden....unfriffinbelievable!

 

We're camping at the Hebron Pines Campground the weekend of the 17th. Its the 40th year that DownEast Streetrods have held this event. There is a car show on Saturday.

Bentley's had 240 cars one Tuesday eve last summer, always fun and they offer a deal to the car owner too.

 

LOL...I'm from Nova Scotia...lobsters just seem appear on our doorstep

 

We'll be floating around for sure....depending on what's happening, I can make a trip anywhere in the state.

Acton car show and swap meet August 19th. Can be a hit or miss.....always enjoyed going thou

 

If in Bangor, stop at Dysarts Truck Stop for the trucker's breakfast. That was a Sunday morning ritual when I went to Orono.

If you are looking for twisty roads then try Rt. 17 out of Rumford to Oquossoc, then Rt. 4 down to Farmington. Be sure to stop at Height O' Land overlooking Mooselookmeguntic Lake on Rt. 17, its a beautiful sight right now, spectacular in September when the leaves turn.
