About a year ago I had my sedan sitting outside. This guy walked up and we started shooting the **** about hot rods. A few weeks ago he stopped by again and checked out my AV8 roadster, then asked if I was interested in any flathead parts? His buddy, a local hot rodder had just p***ed away and his estate was being liquidated. I said "Hell yes!" and he brought me over there the next day. I got a complete 40 rear end with juice brakes and a 40 steering column complete from wheel to pitman arm. I got 5 nice 40-48 wheels, headers, fans, 3 Holley 94's and two Stromberg 97's, one on a factory aluminum intake, and the other rebuilt still in the box. I think the best part of the haul was a nice set of Weiand finned aluminum heads for a 59AB. I also got a box full of flathead valve tools and two big boxes of Hot Rod and R&C mags from the 50's-60's. The rear hubs, 97's and the heads are going on my AV8 roadster. Even got my girlfriend to help me load it up and unload it when we got home. I Must be living right
Nice parts! and ...um... On a side note: Don't let her get away! Any woman willing to unload dirty old car parts with shorts and flip flops on... is a keeper!
It's always weird going through somebody's stuff who recently p***ed. I moved some heavy stuff around and got everything off the top shelves to help the guy's girlfriend who's handling everything. Did a little bit to keep my Karma in check. Plus, I'm going to use most of it, not just flip it on eBay.
Not the first time it's happened either. About three years ago I saw two old timers milling around my sedan out in the driveway. Then I heard a knock on the door and that's when I noticed a black, 1935 Ford truck with a hot flathead out in the street. Turned out to be HAMBer 8-ball and his brother (also recently deceased) Lynn (8-ball) noticed my 36 Ford dash and asked if I had any gauges? I said I didn't, and he told me to swing by their place, they had a set I could have. I ended up getting a 97 carb, distributors, gasket sets, and guages to fill my dash. Plus I made some new friends to boot. As far as the blonde, she wasn't part of the haul but she's a keeper for sure. Plus she's a mechainical engineer so she tells me what I'm about to screw up when I'm building stuff
I paid 90 bucks with shipping for one of those rims just recently on e-bay, so I would say you did well. As far as your companion, very attractive and brains, what more could you ask?
