So me and my pops did exactly that. He used to have one back in the day, he drove it away from the rancho with a chevy 396 in it (home build) around 76 and went up to houston for an oil job, then drove me to my first day of school in san antonio in 89 .Then it got Sold. Glad to see one in his posession again. .. It took us all day, and yea and our brains got cooked man, Texas Summers Hurt.
You guys in Texas are so lucky being able to find cars like that which haven't turned to dust from the elements. From the license plate it looks like it has been there a while. Don
yea for sure, price was perfect. Even came with some scrap! , i mean yea its rusty, but not rusted through y'know. dude i wanna use those plates again maybe, use everything again, straighten the bumpers, that glass is good, i got the hood and that nose piece from it also,, Damn, im selling a 65 chev truck with a damn good 350 in it on craigs .. almost wanna yank it and do the swap, or i also got a nice 305.. but seems too boring, find a 4 or 5 speed,, got a 9 inch laying around. get fat lucky to upholster the bench skeleton thats in there,, damn. hahaha i love it man
Are those reverse lights stock? Or an add on? Or are those just reflectors? The ball hitch made me laugh... thanks, Douglas Johnson "Skrach" www.VividlyVintage.com
It does look like an air con. set up! WOW! Bumper is cool with the reinforced trailer hitch/bumper...
That looks like a late 70's 302 or 351 in the engine bay. The metal on that truck looks better than any I have seen in a while, you be a lucky dude!
I should have been there my brain has been cooked for years so it wouldn't have done me any harm. Great start for fun in the sun.
I don't think so. If the engine is sitting level, the water pump pulley should be straight above the crank pulley, not over to the side, if the engine isn't sitting level, the oil filter angle looks wrong.
Thanks' , yea dude the trailer hitch is rad,, and naw man it was out on a ranch halfway between jourdanton and cotulla, so pretty much the middle of nowhere. The best part was when we were leaving and the master lock on the gate didnt wanna come undone and we just unbolted the gate I'm thinking a 302, i wonder if its any good
Congrats, great score. Texas is not like Arizona. We have serious rot problems depending on where you are, especially here on the Gulfcoast.
Build it and run the 305. I love those little motors. Never understood why people turn their noses up at them.
Thats cool a great score man. My old girl came from up your way too San Antonio, she's a long ways from home now. There must have been heaps of those around back in the day? There like rocking horse shit down here. Keep us posted on Your progress. Good luck.
