Maybe look to see if you have a problem with the float sticking.

Any AFB or Edelbrock carb should have an insulating spacer between the carb and the manifold. They are very heat sensitive. Right now I have one that is only 3/8 thick and it changes everything. Then, check the needle and seat, if there is a bronze filter by the needle and seat, and the float level.

That carb spacer has helped me on several cars. Just because its new, doesn't mean it's good. Pep boys sells a fuel pressure gauge ( in line at carb ) that would help.

  5. ok i think i MIGHT have got it fixed still havent driven it i will tomorrow i THINK the problem was appearently the wire going to the positive side of the coil is/was a resistor wire and it went bad i installed a chrysler old style 2 post ballast resistor today and it seems alot better ill find out

it probably had more issues then just the fried wire but i fixed them while arriving at the wire thing

  6. well i drove it farther today then i had been able to for the last 5 weeks ....do i say its fixed now? im going to drive it to work in the morning , hopefully ill get back home under its own power

I agree with Mustang 6147...coils shouldn't be hot. It used to be on the intake. When you installed the new intake, any chance the wires on the coil got switched around? Now out on the fender, it should be ambient temperature. Negative side of the coil always goes to the distributor. Worth a look.
