My Uncle Mel p***ed early Monday morning.
Mel and his wife Elle designed and marketed "Scott Fuel Injectors" during the 50’s and 60’s and was one of Hot Rodding and Drag Racing’s pioneers.

I loved to hear him and my dad talk about their early days at El Marige, and crusing down to Piccadilly’s for a quick burger.
RIP Uncle Mel, I’m sure you and my Dad “ Bob” are back together twisting wrenches in Hot Rod Heaven. Miss ya both.

Good bye to another pioneer. That's sad to see him and so many say good bye.

Many of the better running sportsman cars here in So-Cal featured his injectors. In fact most of the early So-Cal injected funny circuit cars of the early seventies ran his injectors. He was also responsible for the Jackson gear drives wasnt he? A true innovator.

  7. RIP to another person who influenced my world.

Never knew him, but certainly respected his work, as others have said, lots of guys ran Scott injectors, they had tremendous low-end power curve if you tuned them right, some say Scott injectors were the reason why Frank Pedregon was able to flame the tires on his coupe (along with a loose injector hose, of course)...

    RIP Mel

Sorry to hear this. It's been years ago (early 90's), but I had some correspondence with Mel, he rebuilt a "Scott-M/T" 6-71 injector for me, that I had gotten from Ed Lenarth...really nice and polite fellow, very helpful. He really went the extra mile and put up with all my newbie questions, even sent a pile of repoed old Scott literature, and sold me a fuel pump too, and some extra jets. I was in hog heaven. After my dad died, I had to sell all my project stuff off.....wish I still had this stuff. Again, very nice guy, great service. R.I.P Mel.....and thank you.

Nothing says "COOL" like a Scott Slot on top of a 6-71. RIP Mel and prayers to his Family.

  12. Had talked to Mel for some "Super Slot" advice.

Sadly, Mel Scott p***ed and I did not get the chance to meet him in person. I have been trying to keep the website up to date but some family issues keep popping up. I used to talk with Mel and his wife, Elle, every couple of months on the phone and it was because of them that I was able to build up such an informative website....not to mention Mel gave me a couple of prototypes as well as a pattern board for his fuel pump. I will be adding pics to the site soon. If anyone here has vintage pics of the any Scott product in action, I would love to add them (full credit given)
