I have a 37 Ford Pickup and I would like to use my stock gauges with my 350/350 combo. I don't want to change the look of them at all or restore them, I'd just like them to function. Is there anyone who converts them or is this something that I can handle myself with some info from one of you guys who have already done it? I searched the hambodex and didn't see anyone offering any gauge work so a lead in the right direction is appreciated. Thanks guys!

Cl***ic instruments I think? Get the cash out!!!

or do a voltage step down and probably the oil and temp is mechnical so those should be fine.

Ammeter doesn't care if it' on 12V or sixV so your good there. The temp and press should be mechanical as Chaddilac above mentioned, so your good there. If the press isn't mechanical, get the proper sender and adapter bushings, then wire in a voltage drop before the gauge and you should be fine. Same deal with the fuel gauge. The voltage drops I have best success with are called "Runtz".

Thanks Chaddilac, I checked out Cl***ic Instruments and they basically make new gauges that look similar to the stockers and are a direct fit. Not quite what I'm going for. They look brand new, and would not fit the look of my truck at all.

Seems like the speedo, temp, and oil press shouldn't be too difficult. Hoping to find someone here that's done it before though as they probably have good advice on any hiccups they may have encountered.

Another way to go about this is to remove the original movements in the panel, then adapt the movements gutted from AutoMeter modern gauges. I have doen this on several occasions and it works great, but AutoMeter brand is the easiest to work with.

    Great info guys, thanks!

No such thing as too much info here, so if anyone else has anything to add I'll be sure to absorb it as well! You guys are great, thanks!

Did you search? I know we've talked about this many times over the years.

Did you look at your gages (including the back side of them) and see what you have?

I haven't pulled out my gauges yet. If this appears to be a doable project I'll buy another set and have them mechanically restored before getting into it as my truck is my daily.
I've searched a bit, but haven't come up with anything too solid. One thread in particular started out great, but fizzled out with no concrete info.

I replaced the oil pressure and water temp movements in my '41 ford with the movements from a '70-'80's ford truck. the new movements will fit exactly into your gauge cases. get the senders also and voltage reg's with the gauges. you'll have 12V movements/senders and will look like the originals
