Any of you modify your door remote key chain?

Thought I saw something on this before but after searching through a ton of pages couldn't find it.
I keep coming outside to find my trunk or doors open because things in my pocket are pushing the ****ons on my remote ( shaved trunk and door handles). Have any of you modified your remote key fob to make accidental ****on pushes less likely? I was thinking of making a new outer case that looks a little less modern too. Any ideas? Thanks. Haha....very useful advice.....
No gold chains here! The car is a daily driver and the ****ons get pushed while I'm climbing around on airplanes at work. I'd leave the keys in my toolbox but too many pranksters in the hangar!

I wrapped mine in electrical tape,so I have to push pretty hard to activate it. That stopped my DD alarm from going off at 3 AM when I'd sit down on the couch in my living room.

get an old zippo lighter case, put it inside. Although without seeing how big it is, my guess might not work.

I'm kinda partial to door handles, myself.

Did my wife send you that? I will never live that picture down. If I didn't have that accident in the other shorts (some call them speedos) I never would have had to change into those jorts.......

I thought those had a lock ****on to avoid accidental clicks.
On a note, better to find the door open than being stuck outside cause the remote or brain took a dump!

This one doesn't have a lockout that I know of unfortunately. Found an old altoids tin with a pinup on it that might work, but it would be cool to have something that looks almost factory. Something 50's space age looking.....

A hidden battery disconnect switch in the front fenderwell, would serve as an additional theft deterrent. Just a thought.

Is it an aftermarket unit? Some of them can be programmed to require a long push, like a full second or two, or two pushes.

i the early 80's went the slick look was in vogue and door handles were considered unattractive to the clean uncluttered look I opted for the remote entry to roll the windows down to access the interior door handle.

This was on my '39 convertible and I experienced much the same problems as you,,make sure the windows were up if
I drove the car to work and walk out in the pouring rain to find one or both windows down and the seats soaked.

I eventually installed a magnetic switch just in front of the door in the cowl area ans started caring a magnet in my pocket.

After a couple of years sanity finally sunk in and I realized door handles were not as ugly as I had original thought,,I put them on and sold the car. HRP

Toss the silly thing and purchase a key?? Or gather some antique TV sets and first generation garage door openers and clicker/microphone TV remote an build a period correct one that has to be mounted on a hand truck...that way it won't get bumped in your pocket.

Try Googling " remote key covers " there's tons of soft rubber,slip- on type covers available... I got a set from my dealer for my OT truck keys. When I'd throw my pants on the floor at night, sometimes the remote ****on was pushed and I'd wake up with the windows down on my truck..A real ***** if it had rained

way back in the 70's my neighbor would come home and his garage door would be wide open and wonder WTF! Nothing gone and then discovered a pattern but nobody around. came to fine out it was the military planes as he was in the flight pattern they were doing it. You mentioned you worked on planes maybe they are to blame.

Dont mean to hijack this post, but anyone got any suggestions on how to keep my lighters from "goin' off" in my pocket, it ****s when I go have a smoke and my lighter's empty! At least my car seats still dry, if its raining.

My lighters do that too.......maybe that is what is pushing the ****ons.
To answer others, definitely not someone else's remote. Not a big deal if I can't change the case. Just looking for some creative ideas.
No offense to anyone but can we stay on the topic of HOW TO MODIFY THE REMOTE instead of whether or not I should have one? Feel free to speculate on if my pants are tight.......I do have pants, just no door handles. I can take my pants off too but there is nothing custom about that!

Totally ignoring your last post, I would say put door handles and window cranks back on it, and throw the damned fob away. It's not traditional...

Traditional huh? Did the old timers have the HAMB? So is the HAMB traditional? Maybe if it was on little book sized magazines and cost a quarter...computers aren't traditional.....The remote is in my pocket. It isn't displayed with the car.......hell, the car is a daily driver........it isn't displayed at all. And who said anything about shaving window cranks? Not sure about your car but mine are on the inside of the door. As stated quite frustratingly a few times I'm just looking for a neat idea to fix this thing up and make it a little more pocket safe.
Really starting to see why so many knowledgeable guys I knew avoided the HAMB. They could add a lot but just got fed up with stuff like this.
