I'm candy-***ing it (got a room) but my buddy Charlie and I will be heading out Thursday and I'll be ready to run! One of the few events where I am as interested in spectating as racing. Most of the time that just isn't the case. I like how hambgrenade likened it to Woodstock......Hotrod Woodstock....yep...I think that's just about gonna sum it up.

  9. Hello and welcome. You are about to experience an event like you have never experienced before. Throw out your bad car event experiences and make room for a truly great time.

July 21st & 22nd are fast approaching and we are getting a ton of questions. The answers to some are on the site but we will try to make finding them less painful.

First off, here is a link to the Byron Dragway website: http://www.byrondragway.com/Home.html

Here is the address of the track: 7287 River Road Byron Il 61010

Friday the 20th the track will be hosting the Pontiac shoot-out-Poci convention fun day. This means if you show up to the track on Friday, you will pay admission for the Pontiac event. Friday’s admission is $10 to watch or $30 to race , however camping is absolutely free! With clean restrooms toilets and showers. If you want to sit in the holding area until we let the campers in later that evening that would be another option.

Camping is allowed for the entire weekend with paid admission for the days you are camping. There is no electric. There are clean restrooms toilets and showers.

Meltdown Drags admission to the track is $15 per day. Children under 12 are free, vending is free, $30 per person to race.

If you are in the car show, you need a 1972 or older car, It does not need to meet event criteria, it is just a car show, no awards or trophies.

The car cruise is at Sam’s Drive In in Byron Friday night (Click on Sam’s)

The schedule is as follows: no noise before 10am due to local noise ordinance. Saturday Test & tune is 10-2, cl*** racing 2-dark. Sunday Test & tune is 10-12, cl*** racing 12-dark G***er shoot-out on Sunday.

The One Night Standards are playing Saturday at 7:00

We are encouraging people to dress 40′s-50′s-60′s style clothing, pinup to greaser

If you are racing in the Meltdown Drags, you need to meet event criteria, Click here for a link.

If you have questions, email us meltdowndrags@gmail.com

    Thanks for coming!.

Looks like it will just be my 27 T making the trip this time. "Blew By You" and I have a little match race set up. You can see a few pics of the T in my album "Lil Red". So jazzed about this event!

    Rotten Johnny,
We were at Union Grove last night dailing in one of the Willys for the meltdowns.I ran into Eric and he mentioned that Car Craft was going to be at the meltdowns.
We also have a guy from Hot Rod Deluxe and G***er Wars magazine that will be there.
    Great news!
There should be plenty of cars for them to do features on.
They should get lots of pictures on Sunday of the G***er Shoot-out.
All of us at the Nostalgia G***er Racing ***ociation are looking forward to a great event!

Looks like this event is gettin alot of attention. Where else on the planet can you go back 50 years to what once was. I think whoever planned this had a great vision and now its growing leeps and bounds, and its what the people and racers want. NOT to mention the COOL factor

    Bob blew up his HEMI!
That means all of this "CHRYSLER-FLAGE" was a waste. I thought I was going to get to go elephant hunting, and the elephant had a heart atack before I even got a chance.

  26. Oh **** !!! your really putting the Heat on me now...

I better go fire up this damn Fiat..

Do I need to pre register or are we WAY to late for that ?
Maybe just display the Fiat..(SBC blown)..out of date belts etc.
My Bantam don't fit because it has centre line wheels.

    Thanks

You all will most likely see some more of this on Saturday!
The Grocery Getter and Mr Blue! He beat the wagon soundly in both events last year and with a few adjustments I beat him at the Headsup and hope to do the same at the Meltdown this year, we'll see!
