Hey all, built a 350 sbc about 3 years ago and was wondering if the parts combo seemed decent. The motor is in a 1950 Chevy 3100 5-window pick up. 350 bored .040 over Stock crank and 5.7 rods KB silvolite .100 dome (0.5cc) pistons Summit 1107 flat tappet cam: 234/244 @.050 .488/.510 114lsa 1.52 comp magnum rockers +.100 pushrods Sportsman II heads 200cc int. 2.02/1.60 72cc combustion chamber Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold w/1406 carb 600 cfm K&N velocity stack 1-5/8" long tube fenderwell headers w/ 2-1/2" collectors Accel HEI Ign. Pistons sit .020" down in the hole, head gaskets are 4.125" dia. and .039" compressed. C/R 9.5-10:1. Timing is set at 22deg initial, 35 total mech. Runs pretty strong. Idles around 1000rpm I know the heads are kinda iffy by today's standards and the cam is less than ideal, but I'm curious what you guys think about it. I built it as my first engine, picked the parts when I wasnt very educated on engines. Im taking it to the chassis dyno and the drag strip as soon as I get the time. Thanks
Looks pretty good. Carb might be on the small side. Yeah, the heads are a little iffy but if it runs strong, so what? If the times aren't so good and that's important to you, the heads and cam are where to begin your changes.
Looks like a good combo, for as we used to say street/strip. Heads are plenty good enough for your compression ratio/cam. I have a 625 Demon carb on a similar engine. I had to increase the pump shot and jet up several numbers to tune out a bad flat spot. Have fun and good luck!
