    Just talking about it, a 10 X 32" sheet stamped for $75.00

I am thinking of a 28-29 and 30-31 Ford firewall profile blank for $100.00 each respectively.

I'm a bit gunshy on the shipping, so I would want to "box" it up in 1/4" plywood. That way UPS would have a harder time "handling" it and chances are it would get to your door in good shape. So I'm thinking in the $25-35 range depending on your zone.

    ?

    like the post above,

    $75.00 for the small sheet
    $100.00 for the firewall profile

Or are you looking for something different?

Thanks guys, that was interesting seeing first cousins I haven't seen in over 25 years.

Stash was holding a model car of a 49 Ford, neat!

I should have the other firewalls up on my site tomorrow. Got to finish the tie rod installation on the green truck.

Busy day is over, even slept in this morning

Here is the actual firewall stamping for the car,

And as you might gather, that's not all of it. Some minor flattening of the sheet was necessary from the stamping process. But once the wrinkles were gone Bob welded a flange on the edge so we could bolt it in like stock.

I missed a few steps being away from the shop yesterday. So here are the details.

Edging completed, small recess made for the back of the cylinder heads, two corners made to close the toe board kickout, sanding and finishing and primary installation.

    Final result:

Not so sure it would work that well. I have done some flanging before, without a few steps and some serious die and punch work the edges just wrinkle up.

Besides, welding an edge like this is pretty easy.

Bringing these three stampings with me to the HAMB Drags.

    $75.00 each

    Come an get-um!

  19. Got mine in the mail yesterday! The stamping is fine as frogshair. Will be a short while until I can install it. I also had Steve cut me some disks out of 10g steel for reinforcing frame kick-ups etc. His plasma cut the disks so clean they almost look stamped w/o the deformation. Recommendo!

Damm, this is once again impressive thinking on Steve's part.

For the lo buck guys without a CNC, this could be done by bandsawing the punch and die pieces. Still need access to a big *** press.

    Thanks for posting this.

Enfo, the gap should be what you want for the angled relief from the top and bottom surface, maybe 3/16 gap for a 3/16 rise, giving a 45* angle to the rise. you can draw it on paper to see what looks good. Too close together and you will shear the pieces,

At a bare minimum, the gap would be twice the thickness of the material you are stamping and the depth of the stamp only one to one and a half times the thickness of the material before you have problems with tearing.

Breaking the edges of the die and punch helps but you lose definition.

The bigger the gap the more depth you can punch, but as gas pumper mentioned you get more angle on the draft.

Steve, I just saw this and have never looked at your website until today. One of these stamped panels will work out great for me in my 34 firewall. I was wondering if you could make one a little taller for me? I see they are 10 x 32 . That may work but I would feel a little more comfortable with 12 or 14 inches in height. They are really cool. I could drive up and pick it up sometime in the near future.

I can make the sheet panel just about any size you like.

It will have two holes in the top for alignment into the dies but that's about it. And I could make it while you wait!
