It's the gift that keeps on giving. Seems like it is taking way too long to finish this part up. Thanks for the props.

Love the illusion of the body raised to meet a stock roof height created by the way drag stance ... Looks easy 10 flat just sittin there !

  5. Lookin good! Is it chopped an even 5" with the front posts slanted........ or is it chopped more in the front than the back with posts slanted?

It is chopped 5 1/2 inches. The cowl was cut all the way across and leaned back to meet the top. It just looks like it is more in the front. A lot of work. Still working on drivers side and then it is onto all the interior stuff. I am really looking forward to the window garnish moldings(Ya right!)

Dale was wondering how the doors open and close with the hinge being relocated. Not sure when i do mine if I am going to use that third hinge..Dan

  16. Talk about looking pissed off.

This stance is over the top.

Ya, I looked at that panel in the cl***ified section and it is worse than what I got. Thanks for the heads up. I most likely will just end up getting some repro ones. Have some time to keep looking .
I appreciate the kind words (Especially you Paul). Ya , The whole idea with this car is to do someting a little different than the usual dropped axle setup and low. With the front window as large as it is and the wicked drag stance I should be able to see the stop lights with any luck.
We did not relocate the top hinge. The material was removed below it and it just ended up in that position. The door sagged really bad without it so we opted to leave it. My original intention was to remove it but it just wouldn't work. Doors will need a little bit of tweaking to get them where they should be. Door gaps will need to be trimmed or added to as needed. Lots of work for sure. This is not a job for the faint of heart for sure.

    Dale,
Ya know what's really killer about this deal? I love the chop and stance, and the ch***is work, But the coolest thing is the white wheels! I hope they are staying. They scream "Santa Ana Drags 1957"! I know with all the cool stuff you've done that it's a bit strange to pick out that, but it's always been something I thought only I noticed in the old picts, the white wheels on drag cars kinda deal...

Don't dare touch those white rims with your greasy hands ! I heard Centerline Convo-Pro's big and littles are making a come back and raised white letter tires!

Yes the white rims are staying but will be covered most of the time by the Spun wheel disc's that I have for it with 33 caps in the center. They are powdercoated black and look really good in my opinion. I originally wanted to paint this car Hugger Orange but have been getting the big poo poo from the wife on that color. I am really leaning toward white with red late 50's style flame like this car that I will post a picture of. Nobody does this stuff anymore and I think this flame layout is totally *****in'. I can see this on my car with the flames halfway back through the doors and roof. I know this car was bright yellow and red but I would do bright white instead to be a little different. I would perfect some of the licks a little better but use the general feel of them.

What's a matter Roberto? Not feeling it? I'm kinda digging it. The flames would be pinstripped in black. Not anything close to So. Cal designs. Just color. I'm just brainstorming right now.

Not feeling that color combo on that car buddy, I like the Hugger Orange idea.... But there is lot's of ideas to find out there... I may have to look at some of my books. I love the Ford Cobra blue on my Ole' Saphire 35 Ford, the blue on my 62 Poncho is called Ensign Blue Poly... I would look at some of the late 50's or early 60's Ford or GM colors that were offered.. :D

If votes are being cast,I'd have to say go hugger orange, or even better, AMC big bad orange... The orangest orange that has ever graced the planet! The Lyttle style flames in red and white would be cool and different, but that car is just screeming for orange!

Hugger Orange would be my vote, the Lyttle style flames in red and white just doesn't fit, looking at the engine and the air cleaners on the engine wrong period.. it's saying early 60's..
