Prayers needed... car guy seriously injured.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 46stude, Jun 30, 2005.

  1. Good luck and best wishes for recovery.

  2. Glad to hear he's improving. Hopefully, he'll be up and striping again in no time.

  3. Wasn't me, Eric. Must've been one of our other guys at the show. I wasn't able to make it this year. Would've been nice to run into some other HAMB'ers.

Thank you so much everybody for the ongoing support for Pete and Melanie. It's really helping BIG TIME. I'm still seeing VERY generous donations coming in for them (thank you "road apple" for the awesome one today!) and I'm speechless at the amount of support out there pouring in from all over. Pete is making leaps and bounds in the area of recovery, but still has a long road ahead. He's a strong guy... and God bless his wife, Melanie, for showing the same strength through all of this. She's an angel.

I plan to make another trip down to Portland the very moment I'm able to see Pete in the flesh now that he's able to have visitors. We will continue to update on his progress. He's going to be blown away when he sees all of this uproar about him... he's about the most humble guy I know... and this is going to blow his mind.

    Again... thank you to ALL!

Fantastic news. I'll bet he had a thousand other ways he'd rather have achieved his celebrity status though! Great to hear he's on the mend. I need to read the other VW forum post but didn't I see something to the effect that the VW guys are getting him another car or something crazy like that? Now that is medicine! Keep us updated if you would.

Since you guys have been so great with the prayers and donations for Pete, I thought that you might be interested to know that he posted on the Volksrods.com site today. He managed to get a weekend p*** from the rehab faci***y that is helping him and he is home for the day. He's doing pretty good considering what he has been through. He is still quite confused and he is still having a lot of problems with his vision. He claims that it is very hard to read or type because of it. We are extreemly happy for him and Melanie that his progress has been so good but he still has a long way to go. I'm concerned about his vision problem because if it doesn't get better I'm not sure if he will be able to continue with his art. With or without his tallent he is still one Hell of a guy.

Thanks again for your continued support, Walt

  8. Just thought I'd throw up and update for those that have been curious on Pete's latest condition. Man, this guy is making leaps and bounds. A few days back, he was given the doc's blessing to go on home! He's still having some difficulties and having to make routine trips back in for some troubles here and there with the healing of his tubes and trach that he had, but he's doing awesome!

A couple of us made the trip down to Portland this past weekend to see him and Melanie, and I can't tell you how great it was to get that guy out to the garage and just shoot the **** with him after all this. We only got to hang out for about an hour and a half on Saturday. He had an exhausting day (funeral to go to, another hospital visit, etc) so by the time we got to meet up, he was pretty spent. But man, did he look good.

He's still a bit overwhelmed with everything and I think a bit frusturated at times, but he's still got his sense of humor about him. We were sitting in our buddy Eric's garage and Eric started pulling out some parts and pieces of the wreckage from the crash scene that he found ****tered all over the road. A door handle, a brake shoe that was folded in half, a hubcab that was completely taco'd, some hand cut vinyl decals that were his pride and joys that were still in tact from his shattered windows, a gas cap, and the really weird one... the only part of his car that made it un****hed... his headlight bulb that got ripped from the housing and tossed about 200 feet from the crash completely in tact. Still can't figure that one out.
And he just sat there in regular Pete-fashion and says in his Australian accent... "Hmmm... you'd think I could've done a bit better job of bolting those bits on my car next time, eh?"

But, he's doing better and better and he's REALLY speachless with all the support he's received from everybody. We told him there were better ways of getting famous. :D

Thanks again, everyone. Every little bit of support has helped Pete get to where he is right now... and it's been absolutely awesome.

hmm, if it was truely the Fed-Ex drivers fualy he needs to take it to court, guy i used to work with was broasided by a fed-ex truck, needed his knee rebuilt, he ended up tipping 2million bucks out of fed-ex for it. at the very least, wouldnt have to worry about medical bills.
