History Seabees of WWII where it started

My name is just Veach has been for 40 years.My Dad was a Navy Seabee in the war he was in the 39th Naval Const. Batt. And the 49th as time went on he was running the motor pool with his Buddy's some how they managed to hook up with some Navy Officers and form the 134 Naval Const. Batt. on Guam on 2/9/45 the only problem is at that time it did not exist except on written schedules.They could have gotten away with it had they not been running open exhaust on their jeeps that's right they spent the night hoppen up what ever they could find and was racing up and down the beach at Guam and getting shot at doing it.I would Love to hear from anybody that knows anything about the start of the 134th on or around 2/9/45 Thanks Veach. I've got my Dads 90th? C.B. official USN hardcover book somewhere. They were only at Iwo Jima. I don't recall even one pic of anything hopped up.

Dad p***ed in 1980 and never mentioned anything like that either.

 

A little bit off topic, but I always use the Seabees as an example when I'm ranting about local road construction projects. It goes something like this: "You mean to tell me that the Seabees could be dropped onto an island in the Pacific and have an airstrip built in 3 days and these jokers can't build this little road in three years?"
