I have done alot of searching tring to find any info on these Valve covers i know there for a sbc and the oil filler is a push in type butt thats about it so any help would do...
those look like covers off of a n LT-1 or L82 corvette, the crossed flag emblem is missing off the one with the blank oil cap hole
Yep. Factory GM parts. A little more info... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-general/2804730-difference-between-lt1-and-l82-valve-covers.html
These are the early (69-70) type Factory covers. They had a rubber push in cap instead of the later steel twist in type caps.
couldnt get the link to work, thanks for the info guys the push in oil filler is what threw me off on the year or years these was used the push in oil filler was black made of rubber i think....
My understanding is that 1971 was the first (and maybe only) year they used the rubber plug for the fill hole.
The little tabs sticking down on the inside are oil drippers. Oil would drip off these into the center of the rocker arms for extra lubrication. That's probably common knowledge but nobody mentioned it ...so if you didn't know now you do.
I'm gunna be running a set on my crossram 302 chev in my 64 elcamino for a late 60's drag build...... But mine have m/t breathers butchered in them! Anyone on here that bitches about them needs to realize the year cutoff for cars is 1965 so in my opinion the year cutoff for speed parts should be a few years later, and these are 1968 or 69 parts....
they were originally installed on hi perf engines starting in 69. ALL 69 z-28's had them, as well as corvettes and some hi perf nova engines. they were used later on the L-82's in the corvettes but those were made of magnesium and will have 2 sets of of part numbers cast into them. they are worth a pretty penny if they are in good shape, but they are still available new and are also being reproduced. some of the best looking valve covers ever made IMHO. judging by your pics they ought to be worth 125 bucks fairly easily
