  2. I dig it big time!. i see hints of maybe an homage to the orbitron. I'm grooving hard on the fins. Love how the cady bumper worked in. Where did you see this gem?

Gary Chopit was a genius. Don't hear of him any more...(he was one of the guys from the 'early days'; did a chopped '32 sedan in about '69?)

But to dub this Kustom 'beatnik'?

As much as I don't care for space age era rods, I think I could learn to like tghat one. I would not want to drive inside the punch bowl for very long but no one drove them anyway.

I think it is well done, not sure I agree with the crusher comment as someone has obviously put a lot of time and money into this car. This definitely required some incredible skill...more skill than the majority of us have, and even though some guys don't care for it, there are many others who obviously appreciate it for what it is.

Personally I think retro-futuristic rods are pretty cool.

It's another excellent example of why customs died - lots of talent but no vision.

The work looks great, but the do-er had no sense of style or proportion or taste.

Kinda like Rupaul - great work, really, but the end result I wouldn't want to put my hands on.

i dont look at style or colour or whatever.
i love to see how people made something, all the hand work and creatif work that is put into a car.
sometimes it is not my style but if the complete package is right i kinda like it.
i build cars myself and i know how much work is involved in some cars ,respect to the people who dare to be different.

You have to admire the workmanship that went into it even if it isn't you style of car.

This one and the equally infamous "Thunderflite" always remind me of this...

There's more custom metalwork in that car than any of us have the balls to try, and that dude's been doing this a long time. That car is awesome. His truck rules too.

This isnt aimed at anyone in particular, but I sure do see alot of "new" hot rodders talking mad **** about iconic builders and cars, just because they don't understand the style or are ignorant of history. It's irritating.

I dont really like his pickup a whole lot either, the front Nerf Bar brackets need to be shortened about a foot.

I recognize the difficulty and level of talent, and i don't think the car should be crushed. I just don't see any skill or talent in the style department.

It's like a lot of guitarists...I know guys who can play anything. They are technically excellent. But they have no ability to make any music of their own, and no one wants to listen to them for more than 2 minutes.

Another death knell for any custom is when the average hot rodder walks up to it and instantly starts to say, "He used 61 Chevy tail lights. He used 49 Merc side trim. He used 55 Dodge bumpers."

When a custom looks like a hodge-podge of parts from various cars, that's not good.

A kick-*** custom has one of two things happening - people either think it might have been stock to the car, or they can't tell if the part ever came on any car from the factory.
