  2. I was gonna go over, but there were two guys from Michigan that stopped in here Sat. morning (first day) on their way over to the auction. They said they had been looking over the cars the day before and that most of them looked like parts cars.

They stopped back in just after noon Sat. and said they had seen enough, everything had a minimum starting bid of $200 and that they saw a rough '48 Ford that was totally on the ground bring $2500.

They were headed home. The auction was supposed to be Sunday as well, but the auction company didn't think they would have the Sunday sale because I guess they got through most of it on Sat.

I kinda wanted to go, because it's kinda like the only one like this you'd ever have a chance to see, but I think it would have been as a spectator only and a waste of time.

My wife bought me a 57 chevy wagon for my b-day next week but gave it to me last week. I had no need to go to the auction after that!! I would like to have looked at the full size cars turned into El Caminos. Just to see how they did it.

Almost everything went for the opening bid of $200.
A few exceptions like the '48 Ford and an early Merc and some mid '60s Chevy Impalas.
Some of the big fin 50's Chryslers went for a lttle more than opening but not much went for crazy amounts.
Bargains would have to be the complete and solid 2 door shoeboxes for $200 each.

I left before they sold the Desoto with the good grill and hemi and would like to know what it brought, but after watching a 30/31 a sedan that was rotted on the bottom go for 2,600 I would guess I could not afford anything. A 57 ?Chrysler New Yorker with a hemi went for 3,000 and I think it had water in the block a 36 ford frame, hood sides ,and flatty 800 bucks. 64 Impala SS 327 4 speed in the mud up above rockers 1,100. I should have bought a
shoebox ford lots of them up there and mostly two door cars.

i guess the months of hype blew this out of the water. but it sounds like a few things were at least somewhat resonable.

The 55 desoto sold for right at $1000.00, There was no 55 safarri. It was a 56 moordoor wagon they called a saffari. And there was no 34 cpe.

  10. I watched it live (sort of) on eBay live auctions. Was kind of cool to watch but a lot of the stuff sold so fast that it never made it to the computer or it shot through so fast you couldn't bid on it if you wanted to, but still cool to be able to bid on something from my computer that was being auctioned off live in another state if I wanted to.
