    Hello,

I am new to the forum. I am building a 31 Model A Pick-up. Because everyone has a SBC in their street rod, I decided to go with a SBF. Now I know why everyone has the SBC:) I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has installed a SBF in a full fendered Model A.

I forgot to introduce myself. I am a retired Collision Shop owner. I grew up in the Body Shop business working for my Dad who had his own shop. I have been involved with collision repair, reconstruction, rebuilding, restoration, dirt track racing, street rods all of my life. I have never owned a street rod, but have been involved in the building, repairing and reconditioning of them for years. I figured it was my time.

Welcome from Murray,KY. Short water pump will help, but exhaust manifolds or headers will be a pain around the steering box. What steering are you using?

Guys, I am using a Mustang II front with rack and pinion. I am using a Snow White waterpump set-up and headers from Speedway. The engine is now temporaried in place and I have about 1/2 clearance on both sides at headers about 2.5 inches between waterpump pulley and radiator. Worked through the close proximity of the brake peddle arm and steering column yesterday. Have the steering column set with linkage to rack. Located the brake peddle, using the frame mount type for vintage look. Using Speedway plain black column for same reason. The engine is a bit further back than I envisioned, but methinks it will work fine. The engine mounts and rear trans xmember need to be welded in place and then I will pull the engine, trans, steering column and gear, brake ***y off again to finish my frame work and firewall. I am using the fibergl*** recessed firewall from Speedway. It was not a perfect fit, had to work on it a bit, but overall not bad. I read a bunch of posts on HAMB about fire walls and engine placement. They really helped me get through this stage, which is probably the most difficult stage for me.

sounds like you have it under control.Did you get the full length headers ? if so do you like them? I am thinking about putting my 302 back in mine, i had holley shorty headers and they did not fit good.
