Help with Holley 4160, what are these ports for?

Hi guys, bought this carburetor from Summit. It's a 4160 600cfm p/n80452. I guess it has provisions to be emissions compliant which I really don't need. Wondering if anyone can identify the ports I've highlighted in the attached image. The one on the left looks like it could be regular manifold vacuum, figured I'd block it. The on one the right seems to be ported to the air vent, anyone know what it's for? Should I block this one too? or does it need to stay open? Thanks.

I think the one on the left is the EGR ported vacuum, the one on the right is the bowl vent, it would be hooked to the charcoal canister.

So if there's no charcoal canister, is it OK to block it? or needs to stay vented to atmosphere?

Vent it up in to the air cleaner if you can, do NOT block it. The one on the left in the picture can be caped.

  5. I would leave it vented, maybe run a line from it to a cheapo inline fuel filter to keep it from ****ing dust into your float bowl.

So you bought that at a swap meet? Why would you buy a polution control carb?

I ordered it from Summit, didn't realize it was set up for pollution control and had the extra ports. Guess I could try to send it back but I don't think it will hurt anything having those features, as long as I know what to do with them.

That carburetor is made for one engine and one engine only, and it didnt run well on that one. A new car in the late 1970's didnt run right ever. If you are not doing a for points resoration, you may not wish to keep it. Even if summit charges 10% restocking fee, you may be futher ahead.

Hey!! I went on summits site and the application for this carb was 1979-80s ford cars and truck.Don,t know ifs its worth to send it back because they sell rebuilt s from holley for 260.00 P/N 65-80457, I have used them in the past with great results. just a thought! I dont have many to give up but I try!! Pete

You guys made up my mind. It's going back in favor of P/N 65-80457 which is the basic 4160 I was trying to order in the 1st place. Thanks for the help!
