I am finally done with all the mechanics on my 51 truck and now I need someone with real knowlledge on a 250 motor to do the final tuning, timing to get it all dialed in....can anyone recommend someone or a shop near the LA, CA area?...mobil mechanics are welcome but I will drive my truck to a good place if needed. Thx,

Don't know if either of these has expertise in your area but I've used them both and they're both straight shooters and generally very capable:

Mobile mechanic, Mark Wright out of Torrance, (310) 347-5939. He keeps my Corvair pickup on the road.

General mechanic, Jerry at City Automotive in Temple City, (626) 443-8288. He keeps my grocery getters rolling.

  3. Mr. Roll,

What is your zip code? I think LA County is bigger than some of the states on the east coast.

I can maybe do the work myself but will prefer someone with the experience to do it. The motor mostly needs fine tuning...it is running too rich, reving higher than it should...no smoke or anything. I think it should be mostly a matter of timing and adjusting the carb....but eaiser said than done :)
