I'm running an old Holley racing fuel pump but it's getting a bit ******* on the road. Thought I'd put a rebuild kit in it. Holley used to list 12-858 as the number for a repair kit for a lower pressure pump that I think would work better for me than the high pressure one Edelbrodk lists. Problem is nobody seems to have it anymore. Any ideas where I could find it or would I be better off to just get the high pressure, high $$$ kit?
Kerry, A Carter P4070 or P4600HP will last, and last, and last ,,,.... did I say it would last a loooooong time? Holley's are known to fail on street applications, since they have no fuel cooling the motor like the Carter's do. You can get the Carter pumps anywhere. Summit has them for $59.00, here's the link for you. http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?Ntt=p4070&Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&searchinresults=false&N=0&target=egnsearch.asp
I sent a PM your way. For street use I'd stay with lower pressure (6-8 PSI) unless you're feeding a big engine and also have a pressure regulator.
The carter is tempting. I understand that Hot Heads has an adapter to use Mopar pumps. Problem is I'm lazy and would like to use the same pump so I don't have to re-engineer my pressure regulators and lines. Using a big pump for the volume with Strombergs means getting the pressure down. Looks like Winfab might be able to hook me up with just what I'm looking for. Too Cool!
Get the repair kit and just reuse the old spring on the byp*** and the pressure remains the same. T.OUT
