I have a 50 Ford coupe, and replacing the 239 v8 with a 226 flat 6..will my 3 speed man trans from the v8 connect up to the 226? also any issues with the v-8 radiator matching up to the 6 cyl? I understand the v8 has 2 ports top, 2 on bottom and a 6 rad has one port on top, and same on bottom... and would need to plug the unused ports..
I am doing just the opposite in a `51 Ford pickup, by replacing the six with a flathead V-8. The transmission bolted right up to an 8BA, the front mounts were the same, you will need a firewall mounted throttle linkage setup for a six, its longer. The battery and solenoid moves to the driver's side on a six because of the exhaust manifold. The fuel line will need to be lengthened to the p***enger side of the engine. This as far as I have got on my project and again it is a truck. Your car may have different requirements. <O></O> <O></O>
BTW, the radiator sits closer to the firewall on a V-8, but the truck has factory drilled holes for the mount. I am having my radiator modified to work on a V-8.
if the old radiator's bad there are ones to use with sbc and sbf--one of them should work but they ain't cheap speedway lists them
