Air hose! Ha! I was painting my '63 Plymouth (some years ago) And had to move the portable compressor to do the other side. As I moved it I ran over the hose and it tipped the compressor into a freshly painted fender, and yes the compressor was running, and yes the flywheel was what hit the fender! Ugly! It'll sand out I wouldn't go anything coarser then 800,I prefer 1000 grit on basecoat.Sand it smooth and recoat until full color coverage and you'll be fine.I paint cars for a living, shit happens there isn't anything that can't be fixed.

Yup...happened to the fella that was painting my '35 Tudor.
He called to tell me he was putting more light on the subject but the extension cord hit the left quarter panel and now he has to repaint the whole car.
I drove out took a look and it was manageable. Most of it rubbed out.
    S$%^ happens!

I was painting the orange on my hood, I guess a wasp was attracted to the bright color, when I saw him he was laying on his back in the paint. Shit happens!

If you should drop the paper into a wet paint job, pull it off as quickly as possable.
I have done it without and damage, 3 seconds is too long.

If you are using PPG products, 2000 grit wet down with some 330. It allows you to "wet sand" the base till it's smooth. You can then blend the base coat.

  11. was it a traditional air hose?

it could have been worse. doesnt look to bad.

I see your hose and raise you a bird:

When I was young and painted cars outside...a bird pooped on my car and on the hand I was spraying with, right in the middle of the last coat. YUCK!

i had a friend who had painted his 911 himself and forgot to block his cat door in his garage. the cat walked up and over the whole car. he put the cat in his car and drove about 50 miles and dumped him. three months later the cat showed up at the house. he let him stay.

When I paint a car, cat footprints cost extra but racoon is free.

  17. It's just the base right?
Wet sand it with no coarser than 800 till smooth.
blow, wash, blow, tack , apply more base.
Oh yeah, remember to hold the hose away.
Then let us know how it went.
