Is it ok/good to paint over "Yellow Zinc" Coating?

I have a new CPP mastercylinder and booster. It is yellow zinc coated much like grade 8 bolts.

CAN YOU PAINT RIGHT OVER IT? For more protection or will the paint come off?

I know a lot of primers use zinc just never painted over anything like this that needed to actually look good and last.

 

I have painted over it on big rigs aluminun with no problems. Gotta be clean
