    just keep checking on it.

  2. I never did find out what the commotion was at the Marigold. When I did finally drive by on the way home, a couple of police cars and a few patrons cars were all that were there. I got kindda caught in the prospect of a new project!

I love the 59 Mercury it is an awsome car. It shares the same roof as my 60 Mercury. At one point I was thinking about a 59 nose on my 60. That would really screw up the purists. Good luck getting your hands on it. It would make a killer Kustom.

those were really great drivers, friend in high school had a 59 wagon that blue ice metallic big block. lots of good times in it. must have been a midwest car as it was rusting out in all the areas that do in cars that drive on salted winter roads. that wagon had a road warrior at***ude all of its own.

A guy could get lucky and find one of those steering wheels, sure would look great in my 57. now to dream and search.

Car was built in Wayne, Michigan on March 30, 1959
Weird thing is, engine code comes back as a 312 2 barrel but axle code comes back as a 2.91 for a 383 2bbl, and so does the trans, a dual range.

Pop the hood? Big difference between a Y block and an MEL!

And save it if at all possible.. A 59 Mercury is on my "must own" list.

That car has been sitting there about a year now, before that it sat behind the building at 1123 1st Ave. There's a flea market there now, I would check with them and see if they know anything.

There's been a few cars on that lot in the last few months that were listed on Craigslist,
nothing on there now, but if I see anything I'll let you know.

The guy who will score this car is the one who doesn't give up like the others who became frustrated not finding the owner. You have to become a detective and search hard. As was mentioned, someone owns and is paying taxes on that property, the city can tell you that. Start there, talk to every neighbor, run the vin, etc.

Sometimes the hunt is as much fun as the score. :D

So--i'm curious, is this old Merc getting saved or just gonna continue sitting? Was hoping to hear the crusade for ownership come to a close!
