Chevy rearend ID help, couldn't find...

    I have what I was told was a posi Chevy rearend(10 bolt)...P/n 1375689 installed in my old 35 Chevy truck...I couldn't find any specs and clarification on a search...it has the link ears on top of the differential...can anyone help me out...thanks ...joe:confused:

    There is a code stamped on the front of one of the axle tubes, that would probably be more helpful than the casting number.

    The coil spring 10 bolts were used in midsize cars starting in 64, and a couple versions were made and used till 88. Might be a bit hard to identify...if you find the codes, that could help, also you might pull the cover off and see if you can find a date code on the ring gear.

  4. The link ears as you call them are simply the upper arm mounts, so your rearend came from a car with the four-link style rear and coil springs. Not from a leaf spring car. It could be several style of rearend, all referred to generically as "10-bolts". The best are 8.5 inch ring gear, most are 8.2 inch ring gear. It can be a posi, but as stated the best way to check is just pull the cover and look.
