If you ever find yourself in Morrilton Arkansas, do yourself a favor and visit the Museum of Autos. It was founded by Winthrop Rockefeller, and a few of his personal cars are in there (and they are decked out). There is about 50 rotating cars at anytime, ranging from about 1903 to 1957 (including a mint mint 57 Bel Air, literally the most beautiful car I have ever seen). The latest model was a 63 Continental convertible that was JFK's personal touring car (measured almost 20 feet long). Each car was perfectly restored, and everything was buffed to such a high shine that I had trouble taking pictures. I was awestruck, it was really overwhelming. Only took a few pics because they weren't coming out good, will try to get them up.
Also, can't remember which car it was on, but they had a precursor to air conditioning, I think it was from 49. It was similar to a scoop, but shaped like a turbine, and got filled with cold water. It was braced off the hood on the front p***enger side, and the air just got funneled through the cooling tube into the car. Amazing precursor to modern cooling.
Maybe I will be back in town, this is my first time in Arkansas, and I really love the place. Everyone is so friendly, and the bbq and catfish is great. I've hit Hot Springs and Little Rock, and am currently in Conway, but I will definitely be back.
I'm in little rock this week, Jacksonville to be exact, I think we'll have to go check this place out tomorrow! While your in Conway make sure you get the grand tour or dr Dave's office! You'll be kicking yourself of you don't I promise!
