Not sure which way to go, just curious what the hambers think. Advantages of no bumper, weight and cost. Disadvantages body work, and well bumping something...... (The rear will have a roll pan)
your talking about rear-right? a bumper is there for a reason (in my case) to stop stuff from touching the back of the truck, plenty of cool bumper waiting to be cut down or up, to fit
always liked the look of a `mid 50`s chevy 1/2 ton bumper fitted to these trucks, thats whats going onto my `55
I cut back the frame horns in the front and pulled the bumper back almost to the body and lowered the rear brackets as low on the frame as possible to bring the bumper down to make room for the license plate.
ralphies.....Do you remember how much you cut out of the frame??? Or can someone pull a dimension, Id like to shorten the frame before it gets painted and I already have it stripped...
I'm building a 55 for my father at the minute and am toying with the idea of front and rear rolled pans. So as many pictures of different set ups would be appreciated.
tl I don't remember exactly, just hang bumper temporaly and measure distance then decide how close you want your bumper and figure the difference. Mine is only 1" from body. One thing to consider is when it's that close the grill and hood become the bumper as they will stick out farther than the bumper. I didn't care ,I was wanting the look.
