if they are going to just mock them up they could at least give em' a killer stance. let us play with them. maybe then i would go with the ol' lady to the mall.

Well mine has one too............those pesky pimple faced kids with ear pieces who pretend to be CIA get all SORTS of freaked out when you start creeping around the truck here! Sheesh, like my *** is big enough to fit an entire truck into my pockets!

**I did one piece at a time and it didn't cost me a dime**

The cafe I used to work at had motorcycles hanging above the bar........now I've got old wood chuck wagons.

The one here is complete minus drivetrain. Panels all look pretty good and the interior is pretty nice. Has the new grill and bumper but the head light bezels are beat to ****. Be be a great start though. One of my former students/ballplayers is the manager "Hmmmmm".

My co-worker that lives in Boaz, Al. used to frequent an old yard that was loaded with 47-52 Chevy/GMC trucks. He told me he stopped by there one day and the old man and his son were digging all of em out. The old man told him a guy came in and bought every one he had, and he was going to prep them for Old Navy. My buddy is a VERY straight shooter, and I highly doubt he would ******** me on this. My bud has been shopping there since the mid 80's for all his truck parts. He was bummed that he had to find another place to get his iron.

All the ones I've seen in Cali seem to be decent at first gaknce and fairly complete. For crazy stuff on the wall in stores, anyone go to Mission Pizza in Fremont? The owner is an old car nut (had 55 Buick, a T, and a 40 Ford to name a few). Has a complete 6 duece for a BBC on the wall, along with other various pieces of automobilia I'd like to put on a car. Used to have some triumph bikes mounted up before he moved location.

I got my ex to stop dragging me into Old Navy by *****ing every time about how nice the truck they had was and how I diserved to be building it instead of it being wasted as a store display. Every one I've seen has been very nice, all of them have perfect chrome too.

The one at the mall in Denton (local) looks to be a '54/'55 (one piece curved windsheild) with an '53/earlier front end on it. Makes me wonder if they don't just have a warehouse full of these truck parts and every time they open a new store, they just throw one together with whatever parts are next in line.

I believe it. I am curious to who is doing all this. Is it one guy, shop or what?

I wonder how many locations there actually are? I went to the site and pulled up 21 for Texas. They have Canadian locations too.

The old navy by me has a pretty nice chevy in it. Checking it out is all I do when I go there with the family. There is an oil change place around the corner from me that has another chevy in it's front yard with the name of the place on the side, they are using it as a flower box, pretty rusty but nothing major, I want to drag that one home!
Over at the big mall by me great lakes, a sporting goods store used to have an original cushman eagle in the display window, it was mint! The store went out of buisness, I never new what happened to that eagle:(

If I remember correctly a guy from somewhere around Atlanta was doing them. I also know of a yard in Neb. that sold a **** load of the trucks to him. They strip the drivetrain, slap on a bunch of mud, paint 'em, and put all new repro chrome grills and bumpers on "em.

The "flower box" truck on Op**** north of South Blvd? Pretty ratty, but I've always admired it too. I don't remember the Cushman though.

He told me it was one guy doing it from his garage or a small shop at his home.

Thats a damn good point. They have to have a place to paint them and make them look presentable. It's not like you can just go find a nice truck like that without a drivetrain.

I wonder were this magical truck storage facility is.

All the stores here in dfw have them and they are all real nice. I think i remember there being one that was in a strip mall and i think it was driven in.

I can go drive around the country and find those trucks all day long by the dozens. I still dont think there putting a dent in the #s around texas. My favorite junk yard has 6 or 7 verying degrees of good. If your really in need come on down I'll get you a couple to take home, and all you guys hang out in Old Navy hahaha.

Personally I think it ****s to see a nice straight truck sitting in a store, but then again it's better than it sitting in field or yard.... Old Navy is kinda preserving these trucks for us, which is nice, as long as they don't get crushed when stores close.

I wonder if there is a way to contact Old Navy management about aquiring the trucks upon store closure....

Hey guys, I just stumbled across this thread. My little brother is a store manager for Old Navy and I asked him about these trucks. They are purchased from a guy that makes model trucks for businesses. The frame is just a mock up of parts, not an actual usable frame. The body's are covered in bondo, sprayed with blue epoxy primer and then they install new chrome. They have a sign maker come in and do a patina OLD NAVY sign on the doors and call it done. there really isn't much to these trucks. I also asked if they would sell me one and they wopuld only sell if the store closed, and Old Navy has never closed a store.

Our local one has one, too...

    What a waste...

Odd thing is, there's a vacuum (sp???) repair shop, or something like that around here with a nicley restored K1 Cornbinder pickup...

    Later, peace.

    Troy.

I think it would be kick-*** to get a running one and paint it up exact, then drive it to the mall and tear-*** out of the parking lot like you stole it out of the store...

Or maybe just park it right on the sidewalk by the door when you go in. Think they will tow it?

The Banana Republic store in Birmingham, when it first opened, had a old willys jeep that had been cut in half at a diagonal, with half on the inside of the store window and half on the outside. Nuts.
