Hello all. Have been lurking for a long time, enjoyed reading posts and seeing other peoples projects so decided to register and share/participate. My first hot rod was a 1949 Ford pickup (the one pictured here) that I drug out of a field at age 14 and spent four years learning how to weld, paint, and doing everything else until it became what you see here. It ran a 5.0 roller cam Mustang motor and 5 speed. Other than widening the rear fenders 2" and frenching dual antennas, I kept the body mostly stock. I am currently building another 1949 Ford pickup, but going in a full custom direction rather than the hot rod style that I did on the first one. I have chopped the top 4", sectioned through the hood 4", widened the front fenders 1.5", cut 8" off the bottom of the cab and set the whole thing on 1974 Torino ch***is and floor pan. I hope to get it done someday, it has been a work in progress since 1994. I plan on posting a build thread with everything done to date (if y'all like me enough to keep me around). I am also building a hot rod 1958 Mercedes that will be four door to two door conversion with S10 frame swap and 351 Cleveland power, but as that is not a traditional hot rod or custom it won't be featured here. Some of my past rides include a 1934 Ford Vicky, 1950 Ford Tudor, 1958 F100 short bed, 1962 Comet, 1968 F100 short bed, 1968 VW Karmann Ghia, 1974 F100 Ranger long bed
Welcome to the H.A.M.B. Keep us up to date on your interesting 1958 Mercedes-Ford-Chevy two-door conversion.. I was one of the guys that briefly saw your abortive thread on it. It looks like you have an interesting & eclectic stable.
I was going to say welcome to the HAMB but I see you're already banned. How does that happen so fast?
Banned? Only another brother Virginian could pull off that feat! If you're still lurkin, this is another Welcome from the Valley! Christ, this has to be some kind of a record!
Why is he banned? Was it the Torino ch***is or the (gulp) mere mention of a Mercedes? I better watch it; I'm still a newbie with a '32 with questionable parts (4 wheel Wilwood disc brakes hidin' behind those '35 wires and an S-10 OD ******), I might get banned too!
