I like whitewalls on just about everything, but not on yours - too much going on with the paint, etc.
On chrome wheels though - perhaps 1" white stripes, but black seems like the best solution.
Good luck - it's your car, so you get to make the final choice - I just hope you're happy with it.
    Cheers.

Thanks for the input guys! I can see what you mean about the paint now. On a side note, I've fixed the pipes since that picture and also flipped the white letters in. I still don't think the wheels fit the car and the 14's don't do much for me on the highway (I have 4.11's)

Honestly.I know your not soliciting other ideas for wheels and tires, but if it was mine, it would end up with simple dark spokes 5 spoke type wheel (think American) and a 235/70 or 75X15" on the back, (extra points for a Hurst pie crust cheater slick!) and a say 205/65X15" on the front. Simple, cl***ic, and rides and handles well.

anything 50's era has to be WHITE WALLS. Black walls make any 50's vintage model look "unfinished". Just my 2 cents.

Lower it and lose some of the busy scallops and the www and chrome wheels will work........

Blackwalls with chrome wheels would be more of a street machine look. I agree with you on putting the white letters in and the need for a wheel change. Sorry, couldn't find a 56, but you get the idea.:)

  18. Blackwalls. Too many people today think that whitewalls are a one-style-fits-all. On a custom...yes. On a hot rod....no.

Well said Alex! I agree with you agreeing with Steve, agreeing with Jim agreeing with me... I think I missed one in there. Now, if we just get a concensus as to how ****y a car is when lowered in the rear more than the front when it's newer than '51 or so... Opinions folks, opinions.

I'm a minority saying this but I prefer pinner whites over wide whites, don't know why but I do. But I like early 60's style cars more than 50's style cars. (on 50's cars)

I like the blackwalls on the chrome oem style wheels for your car. I don't like anything on the chrome smoothie style wheels with the small chrome hubcaps that cover the lug nuts. I think you could also do black steelies with bullet center caps or spider caps with white walls.

You nailed it on the head. Confusing style. Street machine stance with custom style scallops. Drop the back end and I go with hubaps and 1" w/w. Keep the stance and change the graphics. Go with chrome wheels with big and little b/w.

I like white walls if they fit the look. Black walls are the right look for the ride.
    Just my 2 cents...

I voted blackwalls, but when skinny white walls was mentioned I said O ya! Wish I'd thought of that. O and lower that car some! Normal Norman
