Hey guys, a bud and I are getting ready to re-assemble his 400 Poncho and get it back into his '48 Merc Cpe.(Canadian). We're re-using his .030 over piston/rods (they are in great shape) and I'm concerned about re-lubing the wrist pins since they're already assembled from a previous build.
Should we soak the pistons in oil deep enough to cover the wrist pins or is there another method?
    Thanks

If you have bushed pins I would check the retaining clips, maybe even replace them. If the pins are press fit and they slid freely back and fourth in the piston, slide them back and fourth while lubricating with 30 wt. (say from an oil squirt gun). Do this after the rings have been installed, clean excess oil, and install. Will the bores get a machine shop hone or a dingle ball hone?
Clean, clean, clean and lubricated. You will be fine.

Thanks. That was my other idea for lubing - just thought there might be a better/different method.
The block got a machine shop clean, bore, hone and re-clean.
