Not sure if this is of help to you. But Alex Gambino just sold us a Fatman Fab mustang 2 stub for a 49-51 merc. Took me all of 2 hours to install. Granted, I did have the frame stripped of the body and all it's parts. The engine would have to come out and the front clip off. But damn. The results are TOTALLY worth it. Best thing we have done for that car so far. Now the only issue is... do they have it for your truck???
So I might be getting ahold of a 1959 f100... was wondering how about going to bag it... come across your videos on youtube... which led me to here.... just spent last hour reading every thing.... MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hope this gets all straightened out soon! also would like to add that i cant wait to see it done the right way!!!! best of luck man!
The "burns" on the seat look like the pattern on the airbags, maybe they stored them on the seat for a while???
Best way to bag in my opinion is purchase a Tci front clip with drop spindles bags and power steering $2500. Reason I'm going this path is its new technology and engineering. You have up to date design and components. Or you can buy a clip out of an old car for $500 and by the time you have it rebuilt its going to be right around $2500 and it's older technology and design. That's my opinion and decision doesn't mean it's correct. If you but a front clip from an old car and rebuild it yourself it will obviously be cheaper because you are not paying labor for someone to do it. They do make a Tci clip specifically for our year trucks
Why a shop would try to reinvent the wheel is beyond me when nice kits like what TCI offers are just so nice and proven. Plus you don't have to work as hard as you do adapting something and hitting obstacles the whole way. Bob
I wanted to share the companies response to my Better business bureau complaint. I would like to say I have had ZERO work done to my suspension. The only thing anyone touched was when I was driving a screw fell out of the steering column which caused my entire column to swing everywhere while I was driving. I pulled into the nearest shop and had a bracket installed and tack welded to hold steering shaft in place. that is the ONLY time anyone has come near any of there work. Also the BAR rep told me to refile my suit for fraud because they were not a licensed shop when they did the work. He also said I highly suggest you subpoena my report because it's in your favor and stated this shop was a joke and the owner is full of himself. Basically there entire response was full of lies I thought you would enjoy reading how world cl*** and custom their vehicles are... They build magazine cover vehicles haha
Just to be clear........ you dropped the truck at their shop. you picked it up form their shop. they are claiming 'some other shop' did the work and they are not responsible? If they didn't DO the work, what exactly did they charge you for???? What work is detailed or itemised on your invoice of payment? What work do they claim 'Osama bin Laden' did that they are not responsible for???? Was it not THEM that chose to release the truck to you in that condition for you to DRIVE home (inferring that they thought it was of a roadworthy standard)?????? Hmmmmmmm.....
homeboy, this thread, submitted in court is gonna be priceless. print it out and highlight all of the posts by qualified individuals (like el polacko, etc,) then get some notarized affidavits from said individuals, plus there has to be an LA based builder who would be willing to help. it would be excellent if someone would step up and show up to court as an EXPERT WITNESS who can explain suspension design and operation, including the absolute failure of this set-up on so many levels. dude is clueless and most likely will get taken to the cleaners. having been in court before, i would LOVE to be there to watch this cat try to work this out in front of a judge. you got a good thing going here. just ride it out. best of luck.
Blake, you may want to remove all of your comments below their response. You don't want to go into court and have your opponent know ALL of your strategy. Remember in court the judge is neutral. It's literally a "he said, she said" contest. Plan on your opponent lying, and using the info above to their advantage... And against you. The more you write the more they're prepared.
I understand what your saying. I want them to know what I have against them. They can lie all they want. They were unlicensed when working on my vehicle. The BAR report says their work is not safe. I have several second opinion letters from shops saying truck is not road worth. I have the invoice saying I asked for jaguar kit and we know I don't have that. They can say whatever they want. As a shop that should not have been released ontop of the fact they legally weren't supposed to be working on cars. If I lose I lose I don't need the money it's the principle. Just don't like how they are claiming someone else was working on my vehicle at the same time as them which is impossible because they had it for 2 months at their shop. It's been an interesting journey this far. If I was them since they build such amazing cars and are such a great shop what's $4000 to end this.
So I hardly use this truck other than to get second opinions for court or move it for street sweeping. Noticed today my frame is twisted on drivers side probably because frame is not boxed and I'm sure other issues. The shop also added a support bar which you can see in the pics is pulling frame inward....at least that's what it appears. How do I fix frame? Where do I fix frame? Obviously I wouldn't do it until I replace suspension. How much does something like this cost? Anyone know anywhere in Los Angeles. I am directly ontop of frame in this pic
Like a fart in the car on a cold winter night with the heater on full blast... gets worse by the second.. Bob
Cant believe my eyes. 1st case ever where a support bar is making worse than if it wasnt there. Amazing stuff. I bet they warped the frame while welding all of the "custom" brackets and the "spport-its-self" bar. Starlight would fix that as well BTW, if you decide to have'em fix it. A sad part of the story is that these guys are in a well known club with many amazing trucks and worldwide chapters, and they are givin it a terrible name.
I can tell you a place in Hemet CA if its still there... Contact Max Fish of Bio Kustoms. Not sure how expensive he is but hes a genius.
Blake, as hard as it is to do please stop driving this. Leave it on the ground or on jack stands to prevent any more damage to the frame. What has been done is very fixable, just more than you should have to do.
^^^Blake, this is the voice of reason speaking.^^^ If ElP says park it, then park it. The man know from what he speaks, and has your best interests at heart.
It's been parked. It was a catch 22 situation. I needed second opinion letters from shops for my case and the only way to get there was to drive. I don't use the truck it's in the garage. Trust me I'm scared to drive it. I love that truck and I'm afraid the whole rail will twist in. The only problem is about 5 miles away is a frame shop with a laser machine that can give me a report on how bent my frame is and I do want that for my court case.
Yes but I have modified frame with step notch and mounted everything. Would be pain in the ***. I sent few pics there is a special machine that can fix the problem
Why, this frame is very fixable. No reason to open a whole new set of problems with frame VIN numbers and such.
I have done whole front "clips" before for situations much worse than this. The one good thing about this poor installation is there won't be a ton of fab to undo!
If you had additional work done then what is the work that they did? There isn't anything on there that would make me want to take credit for doing. If the frame is bent you may as well clip it. Just research and get feedback from multiple sources.
