At least a dozen 69 Cobrajet thermactor pumps with emissions stuff & exhaust manifolds. Virtually gave away the 6 ram air hoods and air cleaners. Sold my rusted out 67 GTO for $650. my 68 Z/28 NHRA stocker for $2000 with a teak wheel, my 69 Cobrajet drag car for $2000 less driveline. The stuff just wasnt worth anything in the 70s & 80S

The dumbest thing I guess was to cut-up a 56 Ford Sunliner because I kept busting u-joints and rear yokes,(reversed shackes)were cool in 1964...

LOL, so that was you! It actually was a pretty wicked chop, but the cowl had some rust at the bottom, and somebody had welded a piece of flat 18ga. in it for a floor (to the rust free sills). It had sat outside with no paint for a while, and seemed like it was too rough (at the time) to mess with. Traded it for a really nice '65 Malibu SS hardtop, that I also should have kept...

Not exactly what you asked but I took working AC of several cars years back - just to 'clean up' the engine bay...

How about a rust free '59 Impala convert I sold to the junk man for $3 back in '72? I paid $30 for it with a bad motor so I could use the powerglide in my '62 Belair 4 door (I blew the tranny on graduation night!)...to this day I don't know why I didn't just drop the 283 out of the '62 into the vert??

My wife has this ugly ass lamp that's been in the garage forever. Last time I went to the dump, so did it. Yesterday she came home with a new lamp shade. She said, "I know how much you hate that lamp, so I bought a new shade. Where is it?" I'm in trouble....

I gave up the original frame for my 55' panel to the scrapper. There wasn't anything really wrong with it. I was told S10 frames were the way to go... I didn't know any better then. :(

You guys are gonna hate this one... When the family ranch was sold their were about a half dozen early Hemi's in the barn, cast off's from my great uncles propane exparements in the 70's i think... Being about 13 myself and not knowing what they were, and coming from a family of mostly non-gearheads the motors all went to the scrap yard... along with the '33 Ford truck with compleate flatty a two speed rear... I still cringe thinking about it, sure wish I woulda known better...

GAVE away a 55 2dr hdt and a 57 sedan delivery so my boys would have room to play--sold a 56 f100 with dropped axle ,327 ,4 speed, etc. for 250 and financed it - wife said it did not fit the neighborhood---recurrent theme of a whipped wimp

When I worked for Chevrolet in the early 80s we were order/told to throw boxes of NOS obsolete parts into a large dumpster and hauled off the same day. Tons of sheet metal into a scrap dumpster. I tried to make a deal with the manager but he wouldn't have any of it. If you were caught taking it you lose your job.

My first car that I should have never gotten rid of.... 1951 Cranbrook was a really good project. I learned a lot from it. Due to time and money and also since I was in base housing for the military they told me either I move out or get rid of it. Long story short I was set to deploy in a couple of months and they said if it was still here they would tow it away at my cost and I didnt have enough time to get it off base before so I sold it to a guy out in town who made it his but i have saw it in junk yard as a yard car so to speak.

Had a '52 Fordor Customline V8, fairly solid, let it go for $250 in 1997. It had been abandoned at our shop around '85 and I didn't want the hassle of getting the title. I've been told it's now getting restored. Coulda been me.

ooooh...here's a painful one for me. OT car, though Magnesium American wheels seem to get people's attention.

I ended up with a 1 owner + granddaughter 67 Porshe. very long story. very low price. my main thing the day I got it was to keep it from getting towed by the city. it was late afternoon on the day the orange sticker on the window expired. it could have already been gone as we headed over.

the next week I was selling at the Cal State Hayward Swap and just stuck a sign out "67 Porshe, $2500.00"

sold it a couple days later. found out later the wheels were worth just about what I sold the whole car for.

making money and getting screwed at the same time. I try not to do that. I recommend you people do the same.

oh .. forgot. the original owner put the wheels on when the car was new. I'm forgetting what they were now, mag for sure, I'll have to find a pic some where.

Lots of things got dumped years ago because of fashion. As member of a Rod Club in NZ in the early 70's we were invited to a mates house to help clean up the yard. Several things got thrown out including a 32 Ford chassis, several fenders for the same, a lot of 39-48 Ford Anglias..(whole cars from memory) and a 45 gal oil drum full of Stromberg carbs,97's etc. Some months later we at the land fill with shovels trying to find the chassis. :D:D
