Gotta make a drive shaft to connect my 700r4 to a ford bronco 9 bolt rearend. I have been told you can take a chevy nova/camaro drive shaft and shorten it to fit. Then you can get universal "universal" joint to work on the bronco rearend. Any comments/recommendations? Thanks, Jim
Yeah, you can probably do that. you need to know what type of Ujoints the driveshaft uses, and what yoke the rearend has. It's easiest if you can find both that use the 1310 series ****er, then you don't need any funky ujoints
Depending on the length ... you might could do as I did and use a 88/89 Corvette aluminum driveshaft. STOCK ... not modified. It has a 700R4 front yoke and the rear universal joint bolted in my Bronco rear ... stock. They are cheap ... in my area. 20 year old Corvette parts do not bring much money or have much demand. I paid 20 dollars for mine. Market value is up to 50 dollars.
I installed a narrowed 9" in my (ot) S10 pickup, the driveshaft bolted in with no alterations. I also replaced a Camaro 10 bolt in my 39 chevy, with a 9" bronco, ujoint bolted right up to the Ford yoke with no problem.
I have nothing of value to add other than say its a 9 inch, not a 9 bolt terminology. I put a 9 inch in a 69 Camaro and the original driveshaft just bolted right to it with no problems. Actually the 9 inch out of 57 Ford just bolted right in with no modifications.
i remember the guy that shortened drivelines for me 35 years ago telling me "Kid quit calling it a chevrolet u-joint it's just a U-JOINT"! Took a few times getting yelled at but i learned "Yeah it's just a u-joint"!
