The Best Damned Pictures of Amocat Open house 2012

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by The Rabid Whippet, Jul 29, 2012.

  1. Well My wife and I headed to the Goodguys show late in the day to check out some of the 2700 cars in attendance. I usually take pictures but for some reason, I didn't take one? So we were there for a couple hours and then decided to head to Amocat Open house. We got in the 1936 Ford and as soon as I turned the key, it squeeled like a couple of cats getting mounted by some **** hounds. I shut it down and found the culprit. The lower alternator bolt sheared off and left the alternator flapping which let the belt slip and squeel. I thought that Amocat was a4 blocks away and I could make it there but the belt would most likely be toasted and I would probably overheat so I grabbed a chunk of wire I had thrown in the trunk for emergency electrical repairs and wrapped it around the upper bracket, pulled it tight and wrapped it around the oil dipstick bracket. I fired it up and no squeel. We arrived at Amocat without a problem and Josh (an employee) was helpful to lend me the tools that I din't have. Also True Value was 2 doors down for a new bolt. 5 minutes later and my 1936 was all repaired. Thanks Josh and Steve at Amocat. Anyway, here are the Best Damned pictures of Amocat open house 2012 and a couple bonus videos!!!!

  4. I actually met some hamb guys here and one Hamber that I wanted to meet one day was HeyitsNate. He's building a 1936 and I wanted to check out his build as I am buiding one. Also I wanted to see his forming technique as I am also building a 1929 Whippet. Well a guy came up to me and saw my car so one thing led to another and the phone with pictures came out. I said that you will never guess what kind of car this is. He responded a 1929 Whippet. I was blown away. Well he actually looked at my pictures here and recognised the picture on my phone. I was blown away that he could tell a Whippet until he said, I'm "HeyitsNate!!! LOL!!!! It was great talking with you and Noah!!!

Also thank Josh for helping out on the tools for fixing my 1936. This was one of the best events I have been to this year!!!

the pacific northwest showing some good stuff!

  12. I'm not sure why the Pacific NW has a ton of killer cars but even show promotors say that we have one of the largest, and best cars around. Maybe because Montana is close and has rust free cars, we have a long downtime from sun so more time to work on them, then when its sunny, we all drive the **** out of them. I'm really not sure but on any given weekend in the summer theres like 50 events!!!!

  13. The birds eye veiws are from Amocats deck of the building that is being converted into living space. Very cool digs Steve!!

This pretty girl in front of me asked if it was loud and so we were all giving her the line. I told her the shorter the exhaust , the quieter they are and then I started laughing. She asked me why I was laughing as she believed some of the stuff. It was cute. Anyway, next thing you know, they asked her to fire it off. How cool is that for her.

Wow, thanks for sharing such a great batch of photos. We couldn't make it over that way this weekend and it looks like we missed a good one.

It's pretty cool seeing the Space needle T out and running around as it wasn't long ago we saw a thread on it being pulled out of the shed it had collected dust in for way too many years.

Gadzooks!! I really like the pics from above. We don't get to see that with our cars very often. Also, that's the first leather wrapped axle I've seen. I wonder if that was the thing to do with the old speedsters?
