    Hey Clayton!

    No questions today:D

I generally try and avoid the 'HAMB' back slapping dialogue but several of the pics you posted encapsulat the phycotheraputic power of the gowjob build that is deserving of acknowledgment!

I say put down your M16 and your 12 gauge and and pick up a spanner or a bit of old manky polishing rag!!.

Pushing out your build from the barn for the first time (or in your case the second time) and filling up the radiator from the naked hose - top it off with some serious mentoring of the clumsy iambic feet of the musically challenged ipod generation ! - dude! that's what its all about.

Loving it - Your living the dream dude!

Kume, Thank you as always my friend :D

To me, that is simply what the hobby is all about and why I love the "gowjob" period the most....and helping to bring it back in some shape or form.

  12. Clayton,

Just a dumb question- any reason as to why the exhaust is cold (not blued) on #1 in the video?

Was thinking the same thing...but since this video, #1 has turned blue as well. Might have been problem with improper tuning? ..after I messed with the carbs, it started turning blue.

  14. Hope your trip to the great white is as fun as it sounds. Be sure and keep us updated. Good luck and safe travels.

Thanks Nomobux! I know this will be the trip of a lifetime. There will be plenty of updating from the road for sure!

  16. You'll have an adventure to remember. My 1st time out was in 62 or 3. We all piled in a 40 ford delivery powered by a hemi hauling a triumph in the back. It was somewhat of a miracle we got back to Eugene :)

I can't wait for this trip!

Great story. My Grandfather went (at 19 or 20) in 1952 with a group of friends and fellow club members from the "Pacers" (an old Portland, OR club). Several of those guys ran and turned in good times. One of the guys pegged a big ol' Nevada Jack Rabbit with his '32 roadster....pulverized the shell and the radiator. Limped it to Bonneville and ran with it that way before driving it home.

Grandpa passed away in 2002 and this year is the 60th anniversary of his trip to "The Salt"....so I thought it was only fitting that I follow in my "Hot Rod Hero's" foot steps.

He is my grandfather  lol ...No question I am a member of the same blood line I guess :D

His original "Pacers" jacket that he is wearing in the photo was unfortunately "lost to time"...not sure how or when.

I have since gathered info and photos of another original and had a replica of his made.

  20. Good to hear- was hoping that the carb tuning would fix the problem!

    *UPDATE*
    Final assembly work and adjustments..

Since I now have the car in running order....being able to take it out on the street is starting to get at me. So I started in getting all the little things needed to make it "road ready" done...

Like the brake controls and rods..

...the foot throttle linkage would be helpful..

also have floors in the works..

    more to come..

    Clayton,

Your roadster is just looking fabulous ! Going to be one sweet ride you have on the way to Bonneville.

Sorry to say that I need to be here to see my lady through her recovery. I feel I am realy missing some history in Clayton's trip to the salt. Would have loved to have been there.

Need the time to be at my lady's side. It will be great to see her in a couple of weeks.

Hope you guys have a safe trip and lots of fun on the salt.

Maybe you can get me a souvenir license plate for all the states you travel through.

Thank you all for kind thoughts! :D I think they worked because roadster is running 10 times better and quite reliably now. Earlier this weekend it was running poorly...almost un-drivable before it just quit on us altogether. After some head scratching and checking the entire system...Chris and I determined that it must be the coil, so I switched it out with a spare....and it fired right up and ran great all weekend.

So far, all is well :D
