My campground is next to this aircraft attraction www.fantasyofflight.com
so you never know what you'll see fly but its all cool. Painted his wife on the
nose of his B-25 "Apache Princess". Not a place to be missed if your in
central Florida. Have watched em bomb the pasture with pumpkins in a B-24
and the pyro shows will stop traffic on the interstate.

This would be the ultimate place for a traditional rod and custom show!!!

Just for shits n giggles....this is a scan of the actual patch from my dad's bomb group. He was stationed in New Guinea and IeShima. It is also now the logo for a little car club I started. There were 4 squadrons in the Jolly Rogers. Each had there own 'sub' name. My dad's was called "BOMBS AWAY"...which works well on my car (lol)

Most nose art was painted totally nude until the general public started having access to see them. They covered over most to be PC. Even back then.....

They all had different color backgrounds to signify which "Squadron" they were with as the emblem stayed the same ,Blue with a red ring was the 319th,red with a darker red ring was the 320th,green with a white ring was the 231st and the balck one was the 400th they were also known as the "Black Pirates" early on and had a pirate design patch . Each Squadron Also had a design, the 320th was a B-24 shaped like a shark somewhat dropping bombs with a lareg burst like pattern behind it,the 319th had a Pygmy satnding and leaning on an aerial bomb and the motto "Asterperious" on an oval background with an inner ring, the 321st had a cartoon pilot kneeling on and looking over a cloud and holding a bomb ready to drop it , the 400th had a Pirate with hat.a knife in his mouth clenched in teeth it's tip bloodied and dripping on a yellow background ringed black and a small jolly roger on his hat . there was another "version" of the 400th I'm not sure if it was ever used , but it was a round ringed background with a falling large aerial bomb with explosion/flame at lower area of background, the bombs tailfins were partially outside of the background .

Just some info you may enjoy knowing ,

There was a book I beleive titled "Shark Noses" aircraft nose art, I don't have the author etc, but it was all on aircraft of all different times and countries that had the shark noses painted on , I know there was a RAF or RAAF unit that had thier Spitfires with shark noses.
