I hate to say it but I think the Japanese are more into the custom scene than the west coast anymore. Just look at the time effort and money thrown into that rod. You can just see the effort in detail spewing out of it. Good looking car and by the way if your no report means no intro..get with it.

I think it's a great representation of a '60s custom rod. I dig the Buick wires and double whites, the custom grille-quad headlight treatment. The running boards are very trick. Lots of molding and shiney stuff. Cool interior (dig that steering wheel). Perfect show car.

Oh man.... He's already changed the Rod Riguez? You got to hand it to the owner. Win a trophy, and then tear it down and re-build again.

I really like the wedge chop. MarkX? Are you seeing this?

    That's Shimodaira's " Rod Riguez"...isn't it?
With new paint job, new grille, sans bullets, with added running boards/fenders?
Lost the striping and scalloping,it appears...
the Caddy bumpers turned grille piece gave it away immediately....I really like this car!

Was typing when Mal posted the former version.... [IMG]

Cool. But do you drive it? That would add to the cool factor exponentially.

It's a little too much for my taste, the fender/runing boards and the wheels got to go. but regardless, it's a great car, lots of 60's show car theme in it, a little low rider theme in it now as well.

Yup, i like the shiney paint better, and the chop made it perfect. I was not sold on the look before, but now i really dig it. The fenders are neat, but need to be tied into the body better. It's COOL!!!

I saw it in R&C and loved it. I don't care too much for the fenders though. Maybe if I saw it outside it would look different though, goofy stuff like that tends to grow on me. I eventually want to make a funky grille like that for my truck.

  18. Man, I dug the car before, but it's absolutely beautiful now! It's not very "street practical", but definitely a knock out as a 60's style show rod! I gotta go get a towel...I just drooled all over my keyboard.

Looks like someone's done their homework.
    Mikey likes it!
That car is perfect 60's style "CUSTOM ROD"
What's period perfect besides the George Jetson space-mobile nose?
The fenders, in the tradition of Lil Coffin and AlaKart yet totally different and original shape and mounting style.
I love the way they are connected and cantilever out from the running board mounts.
Notice the frame is NOT painted body color. It's black so to recede from view as much as possible. That's th way many were in the day.
And notice he moved up from the 50s style WWWs to some thin whitewall 60s style tires?!
Yet there's a definite contemporary American lowrider influence in the Olds Engine being totally stock Olds (except the aircleaner) but it's super show detailed with candy paint and chrome.
I'm not usually a fan of forward wedge cut roofs but this one works, and I think its because its not too extreme.
He cut it right through the top door hinge...
I bet in the next episode he shaves the hinges alltogether, and maybe changes the top color, and possibly loses the visor.

Also, check out the radical chop on the four door Chevy next to it.
It's chopped enough to get rid of the visual zit of the four door, that ugly 1/4 window.
    Yea! good job!

    Look pretty over the top!

Yeah I wanna see more pics of that chopped '60 too!

  26. Nice!

The Japanese are kicking the shit out of us when it comes to the quality of their rods, kustoms, and choppers & bobbers.

Don't believe me? Check out Chica Customs chicacustom.com for an example of what you will be seing from Jesse James, OCC, and the likes in the near future. Guarantee it.

    I love it.

I'm usually not too crazy about full blown show cars, and I hated MOST of the radical show cars from the sixties because they seemed to loose sight of beautiful form and just went for crazy. But that thing combines crazy and beautiful. A lot of original thinking that really comes together well.

It was great in it's previous iteration - now it's a knock-out. IMHO

Hope they bring it over here for the winter show season - I'd love to see it in-person.

I think the Japanese are so heavy into the Kustom scene becouse they have the cash to do it. But that just my opinion.
