I live in Sacramento Ca and I get mine from a place called Blue Collar Supply. It think its kinda pricy and when I asked them for some round tube they didn't think they carried it...WTF?

Do any of you have a better steel supplier in the sacramento or central valley area? I am looking to buy quite a bit of 20 guage sheet and want to get a better deal.

Borrmann Steel in East Palo Alto. Hands down one of the nicest Hamber's I've ever met. That's where I get my steel and I live in Missouri. :D

I get all of my steel from a place in west Sacramento called Metal Craft Warehouse. The people that run it are super nice and they have a good scrap selection.Prices on cut stuff is about average but I've never had them charge me for every cut.Check them out.

I posted this question a while ago. People looked at my profile and laughed at me.
"You can't find steel in Pittsburgh???"
    No, you really can't.

I mean: you actually can, but steel hasn't been made in Pittsburgh for a long time...

  6. Alot of small steel suppliers are going to online/virtual inventory. Why pay to have it sitting in a rack, when they can order it when someone wants it?
I know I can't afford to have too much money tied up in stock, so the smaller steel outfits are in the same boat. They're paying higher prices now, too, and higher fuel costs to send their trucks to the major supplier's warehouse, so that means less trips.

Also, tubing is, often, a special order item, anyway. Pipe is very common, with few different sizes, but tubing has many. I can see where it would be hard to stock tubing... and expect to have enough buyers for each size to make it worth it.

Don't be too hard on 'em....

Bought my tubing from metalsdepot.com . I got it shipped by fedex freight, the cost wasn't too bad.
