This is my first time to the salt. I've been drag racing nitro cars and bikes since 79 and have always wanted to see the salt race. I'm heading out in a few days. The plan is to run the back roads out and stay in the mountains for a few nights before I get to Bonneville. I look froward to meeting some of you guys and drinking some beer. JC Sparks
J.C. not my first time but almost. In 2002 a group of us left central Missouri and drove out in our rods. We drove 2-lanes from Tulsa out through Taos and Durango, Moab, etc. We even stopped at Bo Huff's place. We had a blast. Anyway, it has been 10 years for me so it will seem new again. We are leaving Joplin, Mo. on Wednesday evening Aug. 8. We will be in Wendover sometime Friday Aug 10. We plan to run I-80. Hope we get to meet up with you. We will be hanging around with the HAMB folks and we'll be at the Bend in the Road. Ask for the "JUNK BROTHERS". Sam
JC, bring some loose long sleeve white shirts and good wrap around sungl***es. Light tan long loose pants also. An unbrella helps along with a large straw hat. I brought the unbrella and everyone laughed when I showed up at the drivers meeting with it. But before the meeting was 1/2 over, 43 people tried to crowd under it to get out of the sun! You MUST have water with you at ALL times.
I've got it covered. I learned fast when I started touring with a fuel car about preparing for the heat and high humidity. But I don't think the humidity will be a problem out there. JC

It's going to be my first time. I'm only staying one day acct of the wife going with me. I'm still looking forward to it. I'll bet with all that heat and sunshine a day can be a long time......
Finally going this year, and it's because my wife pushed for it. We are driving with another friend from Michigan, and will be there Sunday(maybe Saturday) through Wednesday. Driving a daily, but we're going.
